Maybe it is just me but I thought things like this would be a little more common in Germany since they love their beer.Schalke have been awarded a 2-0 victory after their Bundesliga match with St Pauli was abandoned last Friday when an assistant referee was hit by a plastic beer cup thrown from the stands at the Millerntor-Stadion, the German Football Association has confirmed.
The Hamburg side were trailing 2-0 when referee Deniz Aytekin called a halt to proceedings after 87 minutes and the DFB's sporting court ruled that as the club was responsible for the behaviour of its fans that scoreline should stand.
Assistant referee Torsten Schiffner was hit in the neck area by a full cup thrown from a stand populated by home fans.
"In accordance with the laws and rules of the DFB the game is to be regarded as a 2-0 loss for FC St Pauli, because the club are responsible for their fans and thus has to take responsibility for the abandonment of the match,'' a DFB statement read.
The DFB will decide on any possible sanctions for St Pauli following the inquiry into the abandonment this week. St Pauli officials have already condemned what happened.
"This is catastrophic,'' coach Holger Stanislawski said. "There is no explanation for it. I have zero tolerance for such a thing and that should never happen inside a football stadium. I can only apologise to the linesman.''
"We have just got to face up to the consequences,'' director of sport Helmut Schulte said. "This is a bad day for FC St Pauli.''

Re: Schalke awarded St Pauli win
should’ve been a 3-0 to schalke. count it as a forfeit for st pauli. or the extra goal counting as punishment. at the very least, club has to be fined

So basically nothing happened except 8 minutes of the match was missed?
And come on!? A full plastic cup. At most you will of been burnt. What I wanna know is, how did this guy fill it up.. don't stadiums stop serving by that time? At least they do here.
