I'm not picking on you Kyro, I just noticed you saying this and thought I would bring up something which I have wanted to for quite some time. It just annoys me when people just call players "crap" or "rubbish", without even explaining why this is or why they think it. I just think it shows a lack of knowledge on the player or topic, or that you are being over-critical on a player just because he has had a few bad games. The amount of people I know who have been criticising Rooney recently, especially in my school, has been shocking. They obviously haven't been watching him play lately or else they would know he is actually playing very well, just not scoring the goals.

That's just one example, but there are a lot more I could bring up quite easily.

    Discuss.

Yeah I've always sort of thought this. If they were truley shit they wouldn't have a career in football. People just say that to emphasise their points though.

He's shit because I think he's shit for the level he plays at, England and Man City.

Doesn't pass well, and he's taking up a squad place that could be better used.

EDIT: Also my post isn't a very good example because I was saying people are complaining about him being captain because he's shit, which doesn't really need a deep in detail reasoning. Neutral

It's the same with praise for players too I find. Often it becomes popular to praise a player or equally it can become popular to call them shit. I don't think Barry is as bad as people are making out, yeah he's not great, but he's played the majority of games in City's midfield this year and we're doing pretty well.

ayvee1 wrote:Yeah I've always sort of thought this. If they were truley shit they wouldn't have a career in football. People just say that to emphasise their points though.

Obviously he means shit in proportion to other players. It's sort of implied.

When people say shit they mean comparitivly

For instance if Barry played for a Championship team, people would say he's a very good player, but being at a club challenging for a top 4 place and captaining England some feel he's too shit to play at such a level. Personally I believe both Mancini and Capello know far more about his ability than some forum users

Look at my edit, my post doesn't prove what you're saying, I was giving a reason why people don't want him as captain.

Just because you state something doesn't mean you have to write 5 paragraphs on why, if I think someone is shit, I'll say that, then if someone challenges me on it then I'll start bringing out reasons.

It's obviously relative to other footballers at his level, if you explain it, I don't have a problem with fans critizing players/owners/staff/managers/etc. don't have an issue with booing either.

Yeah fair enough, but what you just said in your post before the edit is adequate enough. You don't need to go into a lot of detail, unless somebody challenges you.

You can post and write whatever you want, i'm not in control of you. But i just personally like to expand on my opinion when discussing a players ability. I also try not to be overly critical of any player.

I agree though, sometimes a bandwagon forms and people just criticise a player because it's the done thing, e.g. Ramires. I admit though I did the same thing with Lucas

That's what makes it so annoying. People just jump on the bandwagon whenever a player has a bad couple of games or when the media turn on them. It just shows that they are basically being told what to think by the media and have no opinions of their own.

This is a good point. These 2 men are the ones who truley know for Example Barrys ability they watch him train daily etc. All we can judge players from his a couple of minutes a week on our television or the odd 1 or 2 at the games.

A bit like Fabianski everybody said he was shit and should look into a career as a butcher but Wenger kept saying he had faith in him and "we will see the Fabianski we see in training".
Fabianski is not one of the worlds best keepers but he is definatly showing his abilitys better now.

Yeah fucking hell, first of all most already know he's quality, but the people that didn't know of him now think he's the next Ronaldo after playing one good game v Scotland for Brazil that these people have seen.

The commentators don't fucking help either, it's like they brainwash some people.

Yeah but if they don't perform on the pitch, it's not our fault we can't watch them in training, so we can only form an opinion off of what we see, until they prove people wrong on the pitch it's their fault.

Yeah that's true as well. The commentators went on about Wilshere so much it made everyone think that he played really well in the second leg against Barca when he had a relatively poor game.
