The ref didn't give the offside decision, the linesman did.
And he was far from the penalty (apparently), linesman should have given it as well.

I never said anything about the decisions mate im just saying its out of order that he was actually asked to do such a high profile game.
He could be a City fan trying ruin Utd's title or a Utd fan trying to cheat off some points of title rivals its not like we're suffering a drough on referees so why out of all referees choose one from there ?

From Manchester? Doesn't really matter if he supports a different team.. he lives right by thousands of United fans. What a disgusting cunt.

In that case, why have him referee Premier League matches at all? He could help a team get points or lose points for the favor of ManUtd or ManCity.

I doubt he became a referee just so he could help Man Utd/City.

Because they are supposed to be 100% completely unbiased which isn't true.

By that logic we shouldn't have referees at all.ahlycotc wrote:In that case, why have him referee Premier League matches at all? He could help a team get points or lose points for the favor of ManUtd or ManCity.

No it doesn't.
The ref is from Manchester....so what?
Unless the referee supported Sunderland then there's nothing wrong....you can't pick and choose referees based on stupid misconceived hunches that they will be unprofessional and cheat for a team they might not even support.

I wonder if the Referees have to tell the FA what team they support ?

No I didn't. Referees are supposed to be professional and unbiased for 90 minutes. We can't go around and limit talent from refereeing a match because of where they live or are from. It makes more sense for international matches, but for league matches, who cares where you are from? The only exception is if the referee showed somehow that he supported a specific team.

I wonder if a London ref has ever taken charge of an Arsenal game, could have been an Arsenal fan, Chelsea fan, Spurs fan.. and so on.

Footballers are also supposed to be professional but...
