Gennaro Gattuso has been banned for four matches for his headbutt on Spurs coach Joe Jordan.
The AC Milan midfielder went on the rampage after his side's Champions League defeat at the San Siro last Tuesday.
Gattuso took part in a running spat with Jordan and headbutted the former Milan striker in ugly scenes after the final whistle.
Milan were hoping UEFA would be lenient with Gattuso and prepared a dossier to help him avoid a lengthy ban. UEFA's disciplinary panel imposed the ban on top of a one-match suspension for receiving yellow cards which already ruled him out of the March 9 return at White Hart Lane. He can appeal within three days.
Before the verdict, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said: 'What Rino did was an unpleasant episode that was not good. But he has been deeply provoked and should not be criminalised.'
Jordan launched a scathing attack on Gattuso and described him as 'pathetic' for claiming racism played a part in their feud.
