Egypt beat Uganda 1-0 thanks to a last minute goal from who else but Gedo!

Egypt advance to the semifinals and play the second place team in Group B. There is one more group match left for Egypt against Burundi.

Egypt U-17 kick off their African U-17 Cup campaign by beating Senegal 2-1. They came back from behind to seal the victory 7 minutes from time.

Let me repeat that again. African referees are shit at offside calls. I've seen like at least 3 calls where the attacker was 3-5 yards onside and was called offside. facepalm

Egypt U17 lose to Rwanda, the host, 1-0 in their second African Cup group match. Rwanda qualify to the semifinals. Egypt will take on Burkina Faso in their last group match. The winner of that match will qualify to the semifinals. The 4 semifinalists of the tournament will qualify to the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico.

    U17:
Egypt lose their last group match against Burkina Faso 4-0. They are out of the tournament and thus failed to qualify to the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Mexico. Sad From group A, Rwanda and Burkina Faso qualify to the semifinals and therefore qualify to the FIFA U20 World Cup.

    Senior Team:
Egypt beat Kenya 5-1 in the semifinal of the Nile Basin States tournament. Egypt go on to the final and will meet Uganda on Jan 17. Ahmed Belal scored a hattrick to put on a superb display. Other scores include El Sayed Hamdi and veteran defender, Wael Gomma.

    Handball:
Although unrelated to football, Egypt's senior men's handball team kicked off their World Championship campaign to conclude a day full of Egypt athletics. Egypt barely lost to Germany 30-25. Egypt have 4 remaining matches in Group A. Group A is considered the group of death and includes defending champions France, Germany, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, and Bahrain. Only the top three teams will qualify to the main round of the competition. The last three will take part in placement matches.

Egypt have booked their place in the 2011 U-20 World Cup after beating South Africa 1-0 in the African Youth Championship on Saturday.

Ittihad striker Mohamed Hamdi scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time to down the hosts and send Egypt to the competition’s semi-finals.

Egypt get their sixth point to finish the group in second place behind leaders Mali, who already made it to the last four after winning their opening two games.

The Malians, however, couldn’t end the group stage on maximum points after being held to a 1-1 draw by minnows Lesotho.

Drissa Ballo scored for Mali on 70 minutes, but Christopher Mosiuda equalized near the end to give Lesotho their first point.

Egypt will face Group B winners Cameroon in the semi-final on Thursday. Mali will meet Nigeria, Gambia or Ghana.

The 2011 U-20 World Cup finals will be staged in Colombia on July.

Still at Ahly. Barely gets any games though. We have Shokri on trail with Hoffenheim right now, so Afroto might have one less midfielder to compete with.

This has been the most competitive season in a while. The league has always been competitive, it's just Ahly has been dominating for far too long. I can still see them win it this season too. But it would be sweeter.

Olympic team coach Hany Ramzy is the closest to succeed Hassan Shehata as the Egypt first team manager, according to FA chairman Samir Zaher.

The African champions are in search of a manager following Shehata’s resignation this month, with the FA preferring to hire an Egyptian for the post.

“Our exit from the CAN 2012 qualifiers means we need to build a new generation of players to lead Egypt through the 2014 World Cup qualifiers,” Zaher told FilGoal.com.

“After assessing the situation, I think that Ramzy and his Olympic team players are most suitable for such a task.

“I cannot confirm that Ramzy is Egypt’s next manager, but I can say that his chances have been boosted.”

Ramzy guided Egypt to the Olympic Games qualifiers group stage after beating Sudan 2-0 in Alexandria on Saturday.

The 42-year-old, who is enjoying his first coaching experience with the Olympic team, had a glittering career as a player and is regarded as one of the best defender in the history of Egyptian football.

He has been doing good with the Olympic team, I think he would be a good candidate for the job.
