I noticed this was being done for the Sevilla v Real Madrid game, but I still don't get the reasoning. How does that improve the game? Would doing nothing for 15 minutes with the pitch somehow hurt the quality of the 2nd half?

Keeps the pitch nice and fluid, ball rolls better, you slide further when you tackle and don't like.. stop
