Fabregas, best all round playmaker in the world imo. His passing, dribbling and finishing are all world class, whilst he has amazing awareness, touch, control, balance, skill and can also tackle and play deep.

I don't really consider Iniesta a playmaker anyway. He's more of an attacking midfielder.

While Berbatov does possess many abilities to that of a natural playmaker, he is not played in the position of one. His play when he drops deep is sublime, he can pick out a fantastic pass, and when he is furtehr forward he can often create fantastic chances for teamates with flicks and tricks. But ultimately he is not a playmaker. He is more than that.

Although I believe Schole sis the best playmaker, I will not vote on the poll otherwise it ay turn out to be biased. All these playmakers have different styles of playing and cannot be compared for me.

I think Fabregas is a better all round player than Xavi and im a biased arsenal fan so he edges it for me.

Fabregas is the best playmaker in the world by a comfortable distance. I wouldn't really term Xavi or Iniesta as playmakers since what they do is a result of Barcelona's system and Messi is the only actual playmaker in their team in my opinion. I would class Xavi as just an all around great midfielder and Iniesta is very overrated in my opinion.

I am curious though, why in God's name is Paul Scholes on this list? He was once one of the best in the world, but that day has LONG since passed.

Lampard, Gerrard, Sneijder, Modric, and Iniesta aren't playmakers IMO. They're either attacking or box-to-box midfielders.

Xavi, Alonso, and Pirlo I would call deep-lying playmakers, with the rest being advanced playmakers.

Not as good as some of the players on there though.

Why can't attacking or box-to-box midfielders be "playmakers"? They don't make plays?

A playmaker doesn't have to bee deeplying or whatever, a playmaker can play anywhere on the pitch to be honest. A striker can be a playmaker while playing in striker position (Del Piero, Totti)

A winger can be a playmaker.

Doesn't matter where you are on the pitch, if you are constantly creating chances for your team you are a playmaker.
