The Football League has confirmed that this season's League One and League Two play-off finals will take place at Old Trafford in late May.
Wembley will be the venue for the 30 May Championship final, two days after hosting the Champions League final.
Manchester United chief executive David Gill said: "We are delighted Old Trafford has been chosen to stage these two finals.
"The play-offs are some of the most entertaining matches in football."
The League Two final will take place on Saturday, 28 May with the League One final the following day, with both games at 1500 BST.It is the first time the Football League's end-of-season promotion finals have been played in the North West.
We are equally pleased that we are able to take the Football League play-offs to the North West
Football League chairman Greg Clarke
Ticket allocations for both finals will be around 65,000, similar to the allocation for a Wembley play-off final.
The Championship final will continue in its traditional slot at Wembley on Bank Holiday Monday, 30 May.
Football League chairman Greg Clarke added: "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play these exciting winner-takes-all occasions at one of the great stadiums in world football.
"We are equally pleased that we are able to take the Football League play-offs to the North West, an area that has been at the heart of professional football since its very origins."
The Champions League final takes place at Wembley on the evening of Saturday, 28 May.

65000, lame. We won our playoff in front of a record playoff final crowd.
I can't believe they are moving them though, pretty rubbish idea.

Couldn't they just change the Playoff dates to a week later?

Makes sense, the Wembley turf is usually pretty bad (although last time I saw it, it was ok) having two games in two days doesnt seem like a great idea.

Re: Old Trafford to host Play-off finals
They could have used the Emirates or something, putting it in Manchester is just a bitch to fans from the south
We need a big midlands stadium.

Not enough room at The Emirates if they want big crowds.

Emirates is 60k isn't it? Tell the corporates to fuck off, and each side gets 30k tickets
We don't have enough huge stadiums, that's the problem.

Biggest stadium in the midlands is Villa Park, not really an ideal stadium to host a cup final.

Best thing to do, would be to wait to see who gets into the finals
Two South teams - Emirates
Two North Teams - Old Trafford.
North and South team - Fuck knows

Re: Old Trafford to host Play-off finals
I don't see why the final isn't at Emirates rather then Old Trafford. The final was originally scheduled to take place in London so i don't see why they've moved it to Manchester.

Re: Old Trafford to host Play-off finals
They should do a coin flip if its a north and south team.
Heads = Emirates wins.
Tails = OT loses.

At least the Championship isn't affected. League 1 and 2 will struggle to fill Old Trafford anyway...

Just another bit of proof that our FA are more bothered about the European game rather than the English game.

What's gonna earn them more money? UEFA Champions League Final, or a few play offs?James wrote:Just another bit of proof that our FA are more bothered about the European game rather than the English game.
