Ronaldinho set for Brazil return (Gremio)

Brazilian outfit Gremio claim to have held talks regarding a deal to bring Ronaldinho back to the club. The Samba superstar began his illustrious career with Gremio, spending three years in their senior ranks before securing a move to Paris St Germain in 2001.


Since then he has gone on to achieve global acclaim, with the World Player of the Year title taken on two occasions. He has, however, gone off the boil in recent years and is currently struggling to hold down a first-team role at AC Milan.That has led to speculation suggesting he could soon be on the move, with a return to his roots widely touted.

Gremio have now revealed that they are trying to put such a switch in place,
with discussions underway to bring the 30-year-old playmaker home.
"He told us he wants to return," club president Paulo Odone told Zero Hora.

"Ronaldinho feels that he owes our club something.

"He told us he wants to return to Gremio and end his career where it started. "There are conversations going on and a very good chance that the move will go through."


Meanwhile, Milan have been rocked by the news that midfield lynchpin Andrea Pirlo is to be sidelined for up to four weeks. The Italy international suffered a thigh strain in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Roma and will need to rest before retuning to action. He
will, however, still be joining the Rossoneri at their training base in Dubai now that the Serie A calendar has shut down for the winter break.


"Pirlo will be with the team as normal in Dubai for the start of the winter
preparation as the warmer weather will help him," read a statement
released by the club.
