All I said is Reina hardly deserves to be on a list that has Casillas (world cup winner), Van der Sar (excellent season again), Cech (Double winner) etc.. on it.

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Sorry, just because we finished 7th doesn't mean Reina had a bad season. Only Chelsea and Man Utd conceded less, and we finished 7th. That shows something doesn't it?

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Reina was equal on clean sheets with Cech, playing for Liverpool, Cech only got the golden glove due to Cech having less appearances.

These lists do take into account how the teams did you know?

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Danny is clueless Reina is fantastic, his Clean Sheet record proves it, and keeping that number of clean sheets with a defence like Liverpool's just makes it even more impressive.

Maybe because Torres scored 22 in 32 last season, 18 in 22 in the league

Buffon only played half of the first game before going off injured. The substitute goalie who played the rest of the tournament let in four goals from four shots on target.luke. wrote:For 3 games, conceding 5 goals

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Those are the ones I would take out. Putting Mueller as a forward and Bale and Robben asmidfielders would probably be better too.Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy, Juventus FC), Iker Casillas (Spain, Real Madrid C.F.), Petr Cech (Czech Republic, Chelsea FC), Julio Cesar (Brazil, F.C. Internazionale), Edwin van der Sar (Netherlands, Manchester United FC)
Defenders: Daniel Alves (Brazil, FC Barcelona), Gareth Bale (Wales, Tottenham Hotspur), Michel Bastos (Brazil, Olympique Lyonnais), Ashley Cole (England, Chelsea FC), Patrice Evra (France, Manchester United FC), Rio Ferdinand (England, Manchester United FC), Philipp Lahm (Germany, FC Bayern Munchen), Lucio (Brazil, F.C. Internazionale), Maicon (Brazil, F.C. Internazionale), Marcelo (Brazil, Real Madrid C.F.), Alessandro Nesta (Italy, AC Milan), Pepe (Portugal, Real Madrid C.F.), Gerard Pique (Spain, FC Barcelona), Carles Puyol (Spain, FC Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Spain, Real Madrid C.F.), Walter Samuel (Argentina, F.C. Internazionale), John Terry (England, Chelsea FC), Thiago Silva (Brazil, AC Milan), Nemanja Vidic (Serbia, Manchester United FC), Javier Zanetti (Argentina, F.C. Internazionale)
Midfielders: Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina, F.C. Internazionale), Michael Essien (Ghana, Chelsea FC), Cesc Fabregas (Spain, Arsenal FC), Steven Gerrard (England, Liverpool FC), Andres Iniesta (Spain, FC Barcelona), Ricardo Kaka (Brazil, Real Madrid C.F.), Frank Lampard (England, Chelsea FC), Javier Mascherano (Argentina, FC Barcelona), Thomas Muller (Germany, FC Bayern Munchen), Mesut Ozil (Germany, Real Madrid C.F.), Andrea Pirlo (Italy, AC Milan), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany, FC Bayern Munchen), Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands, F.C. Internazionale), Xabi Alonso (Spain, Real Madrid C.F.), Xavi (Spain, FC Barcelona)
Forwards: Dimitar Berbatov (Bulgaria, Manchester United FC), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast, Chelsea FC), Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon, F.C. Internazionale), Diego Forlán (Uruguay, Atletico Madrid), Gonzalo Higuain (Argentina, Real Madrid C.F.), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden, AC Milan), Lionel Messi (Argentina, FC Barcelona), Diego Milito (Argentina, F.C. Internazionale), Arjen Robben (Netherlands, FC Bayern München), Ronaldinho (Brazil, AC Milan), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Real Madrid C.F.), Wayne Rooney (England, Manchester United FC), Carlos Tevez (Argentina, Manchester City FC), Fernando Torres (Spain, Liverpool FC), David Villa (Spain, FC Barcelona)
Do they reduce it next to a 23 man shortlist? If so, this is mine:
G: Casillas, Cesar, Cech
D: Cole, Lucio, Pique, Maicon, Vidic, Zanetti, Evra
M: Essien, Fabregas, Sneijder, Oezil, Xavi, Schweinsteiger, Robben
Feel free to disagree with my limited football knowledge.
F: Drogba, Messi, Ronaldo, Forlan, Milito, Tevez

You've got to realise that players can still play well in a poor team. That's why Torres scored 22 goals in 32 games and Reina kept the most clean sheets in the league. If anything, they are even better achievements than if we had done well. There are other players in the team you know.

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Bad list.
So many players should be on there like Cardozo and Suarez.
Not to mention all these players play in Europe. Not one player from Brazil or Argentina.

I'm not surprised to be honest, if you don't play in Europe, you are not good enough.

I know there's others innthe team, but the way you lot go on about the owners it's as if they get the blame for on field problems, where it's the fault of the players and the manager. do you ever see United fans blaming the Glazers if we play badly?Dan wrote:Danny B wrote:Sorry Dan. tbh, which player playing outside Europe would even get close to winning player of the year, or being in the team of the year?SBSP_FIFA wrote:Not any more. I don't follow much South American football, but there are certainly players who have been putting performances that would match the top players in Europe IMO.

Re: FIFA World XI 2010
Maybe not winning but players like Conca, D'Ale, Neymar, Ganso, Victor, Hernanes (he is now), have great chances of making that team listed if they were playing in Europe. But these players have had good seasons or year with their clubs.
Actually, this list is heavily biased on the big clubs...I mean it didn't even include players like Pazzini but yet it included Berbatov? and then Mascherano?

No, because you can still go out and spend money on players without having to sell half the team. We've been through it so many times, if you've not taken it in yet, you won't now.

I'm not on about the owners, the state of your buying and selling players etc..
Your performances on the pitch last season were hugely below bar, how many exactly did you draw? The players play on the pitch, the manager picks the team. On the pitch, the owners have very little to do with that.

Fucking hell. Of course the owners played a huge part in it. How can you build on finishing second if you're given nothing to work with? We had to sell players before we could bring anyone in. Don't be thick mate. We were spending £110,000 A DAY. That's right, every fucking day. How much good do you think that money could have done on the team. Of course it had an impact.
Why did we reach two Champions League finals under Rafa before the American owners, and none afterwards? Because we started to decline. Rafa worked miracles in 2008/09, even though people say he cost us the title, he worked a fucking miracle to get us there in the first place. Only people who couldn't see the bigger picture saw otherwise.

Why in the hell is Gareth Bale on that list?
Isn't this list based on the previous season? He was not among the 55 best players in the world if it is.

Second half of last season he was class, and has been start of this.

Guys like Humberto Suazo and Salvadro Cabañas(before getting blasted) are extraordinary players, and they play in shitty Mexico.Danny B wrote:tbh, which player playing outside Europe would even get close to winning player of the year, or being in the team of the year?SBSP_FIFA wrote:Not any more. Thing is they've proven they are good in international competition too, it's really shocking that they include someone like Berbatov in these list but guys like them never make it on.
