North Ferriby United shock Wrexham on penalties to win FA Trophy

Underdogs North Ferriby United fought back from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Wrexham before beating the Welsh side on penalties in a dramatic FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Wrexham had been on course to lift the trophy for a second time in three years when goals from Louis Moult and Jay Harris put the Conference Premier side 2-0 up, but Ferriby struck twice in the final 14 minutes through Liam King and substitute Ryan Kendall to send the match to extra time.

Kendall then headed United in front only for Wrexham to fight back themselves and make it 3-3 two minutes from the final whistle when top scorer Moult smashed home his 20th goal of the season.

That sent the final to penalties, where three saves from goalkeeper Adam Nicklin helped United, from an East Yorkshire village with a population of just 4,000, come out on top 5-4 to claim the biggest triumph in their history.
