STN MTN was trash, easily the worse thing gambino has put out. I get its meant to be "satire"/homage, it doesn't change the fact that its trash.
KAUAI though was beautiful, I know he has been wanting to transition into pop music for a while and he really has with this album. Other than Retro, all the other songs are him mostly singing which was surprisingly well done. On the subject of Retro, i love that he went over a beat he has rapped over before. It really shows how far he has come. Sober was the best song on KAUAI and i wish that this was just following from BTL rather than STN MTN. STN MTN was seriously terrible.
STN MTN: The only thing worth it on this mixtape was Candler road and Southern Hospitality. 4/10
KAUAI: 8/10

I wouldn't call STN MTN trash. I don't get the hate. I liked Dream / Southern Hospitality / Partna Dem; Fucks Given; No Small Talk; Let Your Hair Blow; U Don't Have to Call; and Candler Road. It had catchy beats. The lyrics weren't typical Gambino lyrics, which was the point. Maybe I like STN MTN more than most people because I'm from Atlanta. I think R O Y A L T Y was a better mixtape though.
KAUAI was good in that we got to hear him sing and he's improved since his Culdesac days in that regard.

It's a decent listen, about a 7/10 to me, really think Gambino has the potential to drop a classic, just not there yet.

I think Because of the Internet is going to go down as his classic. It's a very good and unique project.

Its because the internet.
What do you mean by his classic? Are you saying BTL is a classic hip hop album or are you saying it's his greatest album?

Both. It's not going to go down as a classic yet because it's too soon. But it's in my top 10 or 15 albums of all time. Gambino is never going to get that widespread recognition though no matter what he releases.

I don't fuck with STN MTN at all, Kauai is great (minus that complete shit spoken word garbage from Jayden Smith)
I'm a huge Childish fan though, I honestly think he's the closest thing to Kanye these days, in terms of creating art not soley reliant on music e.g. His screenplay for BTI. He also makes a great point in regards to what Kanye says about the glass ceiling, people seem to hate on him for not soley being a rapper and want to put him in a box.
