What makes Penaldo better than Messi?

Serious question, I've never understood how some people have the audacity to claim that Statpadnaldo is better than Messi. What is the rationale for it?

People think he's more complete.

It's not a fair comparison Ronaldo is a natural athlete, Messi is a freak created by Barcelona with performance enhancing drugs. If Ronaldo had been pumped full of drugs that help him overcome his deficiencies then we could compare the two, the fact that despite Messi's cheating Ronaldo is still in the BPITW discussion is to his enormous credit.

Gotta agree there, Messi is just the international version of Jose Canseco.

Ronaldo has proven himself in both La Liga and EPL. Messi had a team built around him, just at a point where Barcelona got really lucky with players like Xavi and Iniesta having their peak years. Ronaldo was brought in as part of the Galacticos so wasn't the main guy at the beginning, and he had to adapt to the Spanish game. And as RR said, Messi has had unfair advantages in his career, Ronaldo had to work for his achievements more than Messi.

In his last year at United Ronaldo got 18 goals in the league, can you ever imagine him getting that many in La Liga? No way, he's got 10 already in 5 games in that skrub league .

This is Crynaldo diving and crawling on the ground after he fails at doing a trick. Amazing strengthZzonked wrote:vel wrote:

Height and strength.
This is Messi not diving when he is violently attacked by David Luiz. Instead of diving like Divenaldo would, he nutmegs Pastore for the hell of it. Amazing strength

Some people say Ronaldo is a more complete player which is stupid. The only thing that Ronaldo is better at is headers and physicality.
Another reason used is that Ronaldo played in two leagues which is also worthless considering that La Liga is stronger, if not equal to BPL. Messi has proved himself against top teams before and plays wonderfully for Argentina.

Yeah out all people I'm the Ronaldo fan boy. Messi has better balance and strength on the ball than Ronaldo, but that's not what I was referring to.

Extensionaldo against France without a world class team.
The guy creates NOTHING for himself, his 2 opportunities are great chances made by his teammates and he bottles 2 of them. Yet he "carries" a "shit team"

Since Argentina stopped playing third world countries in the World Cup all I've seen Messi do for them is shoot from unrealistic free kicks because he's so greedy, miss penalties and disappear in the big games.

Wait Messi is the one who shoots unrealistic free kicks?
At least he doesn't blast them over the bar

Ronaldo does it because it's for the good of the team his technique makes his shots near impossible to hold if on target and creates chances for other players. Messi has a softer, more controlled technique, yet in the World Cup Final he shot in the last minute against the best goalkeeper in the world even when he had no chance of scoring because he wanted to eclipse Maradona.

Ultimate professional, doesn't celebrate until the game is well and truly won. When he scored the opener against Chelsea in 2008 he was similarly stoic, he knew there was still work to be done.

International break went well for Ronaldo, scored the winner against Denmark away in the 95th minute with a powerful header despite carrying an injury. All Messi did was miss a penalty against Brazil and score a couple of goals against a Chinese regional side.

Misses a sitter against France, failed an easy header against France, invisible for the rest of the 70 minutes, invisible for 90 minutes and scores a late goal.
It's obvious which people watch matches and which people just look at the stats
