They probably only asked him what the time was or something.

Dear god. Just let that shit die.
Interesting concept though, allow the handful of members remaining to become staff. That won't kill the website.

It's rather simple Scott. Servers cost money, I don't like to waste money so I look for alternatives when things aren't working. I think it's obvious to everyone that the current model isn't working, so I'm trying something new. I make a ton of mistakes every single day, and I'm not afraid of admitting that.ScottM wrote:

It's almost as if it's a bad idea to go out of your way to antagonize and alienate a large proportion of your members.

Re: Chat Thread
I'm not exactly sure when I personally did that, but yes surprising don't you think? Anyway, I'm trying something different, and you're more than welcome to present your views on the matter. I think it's more sensible to approach what will essentially be a rebranding by trying to foster the community feeling we once had and attempt to have all members take responsibility. After all we're all a break-off clan from EA's forums, so clearly we do have some ideals and values in common somewhere. The attempt of making an off-shoot of this place with a stricter framework worked only as long as the staff involved worked overtime, and that clearly isn't viable when it's essentially a hobby.Moriarty wrote:"We don't do walking away."

Why did we leave EA? Because it was nonsensically moderated, the discussion surrounding real football was at best childish, and at worst destructive. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, when Mal started this place it was an ambition to create a friendly community. Due to the very same issues that I feel we've now encountered at TheFantasista, it fell apart when the people who cared, simply stopped. Not because we had given up on the idea, that much was evident in the many off-shoots we've had, but because the way we went about it didn't work. The Playmaker and all its offshoots wasn't created by one or two people, it was created by all of us and some of us including myself seem to have forgotten that.

Scott, in comparison to the total amount of money put into it, you put less than 1% into the site and forum. Less than 1%. I find the argument of immunity due to what was essentially a minor financial investment quite problematic as I don't think it's neither fair nor justifiable to claim immunity on the basis of that level of financial involvement. Especially given that the money was given under the terms of a donation.Scott M wrote:How can you talk to me about wasting money, when I put my own money into the site, only to get banned for speaking out against the wrongdoings of your moderating team?Laurencio2 wrote:It's rather simple Scott. As for you speaking out. I was more than open to hear you out in private, but you had a tendency to constantly bring it to the boards and basically starting a campaign that was borderline racist against Ahly. This despite the fact that I on more than one occasion asked you to refrain from doing that. What I would label your final "stunt" was silly and destructive. You purposefully flatly ignored any request for time to check with the staff you were complaining about on their story, you began sending mass-pms which a spam filter of all things picked up requesting members to do exactly the thing I asked you not to do. After having harped on about that for a few weeks, and having been made aware that you wanted to cause drama and attack Ahly because that would be "fun", I did not see how your actions and really the action I told you I would judge very harshly were in any way constructive.

I put £30 into the site. Are you telling me that you've put £3000 into the site? As 1% of £3000 is £30.
Borderline racist? Are you having a laugh? How the hell did ANYTHING I say with regards to Ahly even come across as racist? That is a pathetic and 100% baseless accusation. No, really, I want to know how you came up with that one. Please, go ahead and explain yourself, because that's actually shocking to me.
My final "stunt" was for the greater good of the forum. You were just too blind to see it. There was screenshot evidence of your moderating team being extremely unprofessional. If you had some balls, you would have stripped them of their mod-ship and hired people who would actually take the job seriously. Not someone who sends tub-girl images to a member in PM before deleting it quickly and giggling about it on Skype with his fellow childish mods.
The mod who actually realised that this was wrong and unprofessional, ended up being stripped because he told people like me and Novi. I mean, that is just .. wow. You stripped the mod who was looking out for the forum and kept the ones who were doing shit. You were spineless, Laurencio.
It's no coincidence that the forum's activity plummeted from that moment onwards.

I said the campaign was borderline racist. You didn't necessarily start it off as racist, but it did evolve into that and that is why I found it so difficult to accept. Even though it took me way too long to shut it down.
And I asked you very seriously to give me time to go over it. Most of the "evidence" was basically poor taste jokes between The Maestro and Harrold which wasn't having any effect at all on the forum or any member. You flatly ignored my request for time to look into it, and I could only conclude that you had every intention of simply causing trouble. I wasn't even given an hour to look into things before you pulled your stunt, despite being warned. The complete logs would show several hours of discussing improvements, coding and graphical decisions before each of these "jokes" were made. Logs I was reading when I sent you the message asking you to give me time before you hit any panic button or began a silly campaign which I explicitly warned you I would judge harshly.
He wasn't stripped for showing a bunch of screenshots. He was stripped for two reason. One, the entire staff including those who hadn't done anything wrong did not trust him anymore and considered the fact that he went to you and not us a breach of trust. Two, the context of which he presented the "evidence" was biased and just flat out wrong. Three, I was never even informed about any worries the information was simply passed on to yourself and Novi without any context. Four, upon learning that Novi was sharing the information with me he sent several messages to Novi where he acted upset and blamed Novi for having gone to me, a move he should have made to begin with.
Now had I been given time, been made aware of these issues, not looked into it at all and ignored every message, then I would maybe have understood you. As it was I wasn't given any time at all, despite asking several times for it (from both Novi and yourself).
At any rate. I've stated this too many times now. I feel a need to defend myself sometimes, but I should just realize it's pointless. I'm not trying to justify everything everyone on the site has ever done. I've pointed out that we have made many mistakes, and that we are trying to change that. If you don't like that, then that's fine.

Laurencio, how is the financial burden distributed between your self and Maestro? And what is the history of ownership?
I'm under the impression that Maestro set it up with his money, then sold it to you with the excuse that his life was getting in the way, but retained "ownership" so to speak. Leaving you with the monthly costs and the bulk sum of buying it outright.
If that's true, then I think you've been conned. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

It's a little more complicated than this, but basically..The Zlatan wrote:Laurencio, how is the financial burden distributed between your self and Maestro? And what is the history of ownership?

1. Maestro set it up, paid for everything by himself for a few months
2. Maestro invests money in a new skin and a handful of features.
3. Maestro didn't feel up for it, and sold it to me, I took over hosting and paid for the transfer and renewal of the license.
4. Maestro felt like he couldn't really just leave it, returned half the money I had paid, and invested in a new skin and features to make up for hosting costs. The skin I also paid roughly 50% on.
5. Maestro invests in a bunch of features and I cover roughly 25% because we slightly disagree on what to invest in, his money, his decision on what to spend on.
6. I take over complete payment of hosting, while he takes care of 50% of renewal fees and the costs of the domain.
If anything Maestro has spent more than I have, but by choice rather than by force.

Laurencio, do you think its appropriate to be directed to a GIF of homosexual anal intercourse as 'punishment' for a comment ?
