Obviously I'm going to try and score, but I was extremely "cba" when defending.

You're right, might as well wrap up the Oscar right now.
I can only imagine the closest role Michael "Anything for a Dollar" Fassbender could ever have to this one would be as Mitt Romney or Rick Perry.

Doing a biopic of a famous, unanimously loved politician, how desperate can you be? Fassbender would never pander in such a pathetic manner to Academy voters. Despite that, I'm sure I'll have the last laugh when he bags the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Twelve Years a Slave which has been garnering universal acclaim.

"I didn't want to deface Mr Mandela in any way, but I didn't want to portray him in a way that wasn't honest."
That sounds like pandering to you?
Nobody cares about the low-budget Lifetime films Fassbender stars in (unless he is still doing glorified pornos? In that case, I guess he will still have a certain audience). Besides, acting is all about making a great film. Elba would much rather make a great film and have his team collect the prizes, while Fassbender happily barges in front of his hardworking teammates to collect a prize for his mediocre, forced acting (not that he'll every win an award again).

I'm not going to take his word for granted but even so, it doesn't change the fact that it's a biopic about a famous person. Feel-good biopic = Desperate Oscar baitMoriarty wrote:"He was cautioned by people in Johannesburg, fearful he hadn't clocked the enormity of his task. And which great films has Elba been a part of? His best work is in television where he belongs. Some people just aren't suited for the big screen, there's no shame in that. I'm sure that the elderly will still enjoy seeing his work as they wait for the latest episode of Coronation Street. Fassbender, on the other hand, will be off working with the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Ridley Scott.

Agreed, he's more interested (and able, interestingly enough) to portray sexual fiends.

RocknRolla, Pacific Rim, Prometheus, plus a few others, but right now, he's cranking out brilliant movies a few times a year, which just shows how he is improving with every film-considering he's already reached a level Fenderbender will never attain, that's incredible.Ra's al Ghul wrote:And which great films has Elba been a part of? Is Tarantino channeling his bottled-up aggression into pornographic films now? There is no wonder he sees Fassbender as just what the doctor ordered, he is always willing to demean himself to get a 7.5/10 on IMDB.
Elba has dominated television by acting in the two greatest crime-related shows of all time-coincidence? You wouldn't think so. It's really pretty disgusting that you're resorting to hyperbole to strengthen your argument by acting as if Elba acts in working-class soap operas; he is the best, and he only acts in the best.
