Expecting my early optimism (due to our possible signings) to be killed in 3 seconds flat when I read what our first 5 fixtures are.

Re: Premier League Fixtures 2013/14.
We've had Arsenal within our first 3 games for the last 3 seasons.
2012/13 - 3rd game
2011/12 - 2nd game
2010/11 - 1st game
Wonder if we'll have them for our 4th game this time round

I hope we have an easy set of fixtures over the Christmas period, I would rather have hard fixtures at the start of the season and easy fixtures over the congested Christmas period, than the other way round

Agreed. I think that getting Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, and Manchester United away in our first five fixtures could actually favour us in the long run.Chip wrote:I hope we have an easy set of fixtures over the Christmas period, I would rather have hard fixtures at the start of the season and easy fixtures over the congested Christmas period, than the other way round

Provided we have a good preseason for once it could be the best time for us to face the 'better' teams as they may not be as well prepared as we are!

With Moyes's inferiority complex with Liverpool I'd expect you to pick up 12-15 from those 1st 5. That's very respectable, you could actually be top of the league after those 5 games.

Hope so. Arsenal's first 5 games are quite good on paper too, aren't they?

We'll have to see what our transfer activity is like. For Liverpool I've factored in that you'll sign the players you've been linked with since they seem like almost completed deals. With us its just speculation. If we sign the same calibre of players we have in recent seasons then I'd say we'll probably get 9-10 points with Fulham, Spurs and Sunderland being potential banana skins. You've had pretty slow/poor starts to the seasons the last couple of years regardless of who the opposition down to low moral because of losing key players during the summer. Hopefully that'll be different this season.

Coming from an Arsenal fan?
Thought you'd want us to do badly.
