Liverpool will surely suffer without him I expect them to drop into mid-table inferiority.

Probably should have retired two years ago. Still a legend at our club. Will be strange not to see him in the squad next season.

Can't think of anything notable he's done in his career apart from being a pain.

He won a Champions league, a treble, the carling cup and FA cup but yes you're right.crump wrote:Can't think of anything notable he's done in his career apart from being a pain.

What a relief it will be for players and fans not having that tyrant bullying the opposition week in week out. Dreadful player. Good riddance.

Tbf, for just about all of the trophies Mouse mentioned he was a first teamer at the time, don't think Pinto ever has.PrideOfTheMidlands wrote:Pinto has one numerous Trophies. Doesn't make him amazingMouse wrote:He won a Champions league, a treble, the carling cup and FA cup but yes you're right.
Still, he was always 3rd or 4th best English centre back throughout his career.

Kind of unlucky to be born in the same era as Terry and Ferdinand.
Probably between him and Ledley King as next best Centre Back

He's been quite good this season hasn't he? He was pretty impressive against Arsenal, still has it in him to play for Premiership club.

I class Campbell as a player who was just a bit before the times of those guys. He stopped being good for England in 2004 I think

Which was because he wasn't good enough to start...
With no disrespect to Carragher, he wasn't better than Sol, Ferdinand, Terry etc

Agreed. I would not even class him with the likes of Upson, Jagielka, or Lescott. He is probably more in his depth with the likes of Shawcross, Dawson, Turner, and Curtis Davies.Carlos Jenkinson wrote:El Jefe wrote:Carra not being arsed about England is even better

Jamie Carragher is third all-time in scoring AGAINST Liverpool. Only behind Henry and Andy Cole.

I would also like to point out Glen, that shunning your nation for your own selfish pride because you're not good enough to replace your comrades is a cowardly act

Re: James Carragher Announces Retirment
Absolutely. For a man that claims to be some humble, honest, hardworking everyman from Merseyside, he simply oozes arrogance. He admitted that he did not try very hard for England, yet he was perfectly willing to collect payment for his "services." He is more of a mercenary than Carlos Tevez.Carlos Jenkinson wrote:Moriarty wrote:Agreed. I would not even class him with the likes of Upson, Jagielka, or Lescott. When you say "willing to collect payment", do you mean from Liverpool or England?

Re: James Carragher Announces Retirment
Well, he did partner both Rio and Terry in consecutive tournaments (all be it because of Rio's ridiculous ban), and was in the squad in 2006..Forest wrote:Danny wrote:Wasn't as good as Campbell either.
