Da Vinci's Demons (Starz Series)

Tell me this does not seem like a badass prospect. Guessing many won't appreciate the over the top take on one of the greatest gawds. But this is Starz, they'll stick to their particular style. Maybe there will be life after Spartacus. I'd guess it will premiere right after Spartacus, which would be April. GOT will have some company.

And let's not forget it's written by some dude who co-wrote the Batman trilogy.

Pretty excited about this.

Just a matter of three days to go. Premiers right after Spartacus' finale. This is the best time of the year for tv, so this best not let up.

Looks perhaps a little different than expected. Good episode though, to set things up. Italian accents would not go amiss.

I kind of want to check this out, but I'm not sure if I can handle all the gay porn that's bound to be a part of this series.

I'll give it a few more episodes. See if it picks up or not.

Even if it winds up being the next Camelot, I'll give all the episodes a watch. Spartacus had a poor premiere, and look where it is now.

This season of Spartacus blew.

Still better than any television during that time. Fair to say it was a muffled conclusion.

Gave it a watch because Starz is streaming episode one for free, not bad.

Watched, it's decent.

Fantastic episode.

One of my favourite shows, after the fourth episode. Love the style and the plot has more than a bit of weight to it.

Can't help but think that the AC franchise has been one of the driving forces behind the creation of all these Italian Renaissance-themed shows.

Still bugs me that they pronounce her name as "Lukreesha".

Riario's sunglasses need an origin story, make me chuckle everytime.

He did a great job in the last episode.

Think he's had the strongest showing of the lot, really gets into his role. Lorenzo is also one of my faves.

Eight episodes is a bit short, and it ended in a mid-action climatic cliff-hanger. Never seen that like before, there's just a door separating them. I'll give it an 8/10 anyway, it was fun and very watchable. Finale definitely the best. Starz have Magic City next week, guess I'll wait till January to see if they can produce another really good show. Maybe they'll replace the cancelled Boss with something decent...that was the show that used to be around August/September.

I really just assumed it was ten episodes, weird. I miss the 13 episode Spartacus.

Maybe they only ordered eight episodes thinking that it could potentially flop.

It looks big budget for a tv show, and there was Camelot, show they had reasons.

Found what they've replaced the August schedule with, thankfully it is a historical drama. Can't post links, so look it up on youtube. War of Roses drama called The White Queen. Not sure what the link between BBC and Starz is here and how it applies. BBC shows tend to be tame and PG, with the exception of Ripper Street. Starz are basically HBO with a certain stylized look. It's labelled a Starz as well as a BBC original. Could be similar to Tudors, which was fine.

Checked around a little, it's co-produced by the two. Which is understandable, British period dramas seem to make decent money in the US of A and the English TV can't self-sustain any project with big ambitions. The Sky Aladdin series was a dud, lost interest in the first fifteen minutes and now it's been cancelled.

Anyway, it premiers on the BBC next Sunday 9pm. Guess they're taking the ball first.

That sounds cool. I liked learning about the Wars of the Roses.

BBC and HBO collaborated for Rome, if I'm not mistaken.

And yeah, I checked out Magic City, but I'd rather stick with Boardwalk Empire for my mobster show fix. Better writing, better ensemble cast, etc.

Aye, hope they give Evil Zedd a bigger role next season, he's starred in two big movies since last season. HBO sure have a way of helping potential stars into the big time, as well as attracting those who might have seemed to good for tv. Robb and Jon for instance are only going to keep climbing. Magic City are adding some Cuban mission shtick next season that I'm curious enough to check out. Not to mention they have Bond lady.

Actually forgotten in large part the War of Roses. Sure it will come back once I see the set-up of the show's plot.
