Making Piers Morgan seem moderate, calm and sensible. Impressive.
We were discussing that in Novi's thread in general discussion.
I love his passion, shame everything else seems to be a bit off the hook. Would also do well to control it a bit, take in what Piers is actually saying and respond rather than going on bizarre rants aimed at prescription drugs that aren't even really relevant.

Laurencio wrote:He admits to having at least 55 guns, of different calibers, including assault rifles. That's scary. A man that openly shouts about his own government conspiring to kill its own citizens, a man that openly encourages to take up arms against the law and order of the land if they were to impose stricter gun control and must certainly be on an FBI list of some kind is allowed to have an arsenal. Not that it would ever work if the US government went "tyrannical" considering that a civilian with an assault rifle doesn't really work all that well against top trained soldiers and drones.
I especially liked his "proof" of "guns make the world better". An article from the telegraph written in 2009 about how UK crime had gotten worse under Labour. He could have bothered to look at the same page a little further down though:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9411649/Graphic-how-the-murder-rate-has-fallen.html
and
http://www.vrg.cf.ac.uk/nvit/NVIT_2011.pdf
But naturally he's not really going to be sensible about his research is he.
Yeah I was also thinking that, if these pro-gun guys are saying guns are protection from government, does that mean we can expect some shooting sprees if they try to ban guns?

It's mostly passion without substance though. There's nothing about this man that is even remotely reasonable. His facts are wrong, his understanding of the cause of the American Revolution is flawed, as is his interpretation of the law. "If you don't like the law of the land then leave" is one of the most common responses to Piers, a statement which in itself pretty much encourages a tyrannical non-democratic government which most claim to be against.
Supposedly the 2nd amendment protects against a tyrannical government, which is absurd considering the arsenal of weaponry, technology and not to mention trained professionals that government have under their command. What protects the US against a tyrannical government is the concept of checks and balances, the structure of government, which is in no way perfect, but works relatively well. That system, which essentially protects the US constitution, which essentially protects the people and the government can not work if freedom of speech is restricted, if laws and decisions aren't being scrutinized and discussed, and if government is never allowed to be questioned.
Certain groups of people seem to think that the US constitution is flawless and has always been flawless. Well the constitution reserved rights of voting to landed white men and white men of considerable wealth, excluding women, excluding other "races" and excluding the poor. This required no less than 26 amendments, the last introduced in 1971, before it became somewhat close to what you see today. To not question political decisions, to not discuss laws and their reasonability in todays world and society is to stagnate the political process. To not allow the debate, to not even consider the debate worth having because some revolutionary men put it on paper hundreds of years ago, it's just ignorant and foolish. None of these people seem to bother with the fact that the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th amendment have all basically been ignored by the US government and courts for the past 10 years. All of which are also in the bill of rights, all of which were also created to help prevent the rise of "tyranical" government, yet somehow having a gun seems to be more important than the rest of the document that, according to these people, is sacred.

Yeah I agree with all of that really. Didn't know a lot of the stuff in the final paragraph though, so it's quite interesting to read about that.
A lot of the arguments this guy comes out with seem to be tied into wider conspiracy theories that don't really seem reasonable. Checked out some of the videos that relate to this, and people are saying that gay marriage will start leading to legal pedophilia. Can only imagine how many votes a political party would get if they tried to get that policy in.
Think a lot of these people forget that it is politicians jobs to represent their constituents as best as possible. They can't do crazy things and still get voted in unless it's what the people want. Hence democracy.
I also like how your use of the shit key made your shifty not work.

Most if not all of the anti-terrorism acts in the past 10 years directly and blatantly violate the bill of rights. However that's not even the first examples of the bill of rights being violated. Segregation laws against black people clearly violate the constitution (although black people weren't even considered "people with rights" in the original drafts) President J Edgar Hoover consistently violated the bill with his use of the FBI. McCarthy's communist witch hunt clearly violates the right to free speech and assembly. The patriot act is a clear violation. Obama's use of drones against American citizens is also a fairly clear violation. The list goes on and on. Fact is that for the most part the bill of rights hasn't really been held as sacred as certain people would want you to think. That's not to say it hasn't had an important and vital role in maintaining and keeping the rights of the people and remains a cornerstone of US law and indeed UN law. However it's "sacredness" is highly exaggerated.
The worst part about his conspiracies is that this man has an extremely large following that respect and agree with his ideas and views. He has more than 3 million listeners, all armed for obvious reasons, and more than 340 000 subscribers to his youtube channel. This isn't just the ravings of a madman, this is the ravings of a highly influential man with quite a bit of political clout which holds a great deal of respect in certain circles. One writer called him the most influential man of the gun touting, right wing america, as he has more listeners and followers than Rush Limbough.
That my friend, is scary.
