What if van Persie was considered an Arsenal legend? What if all your strikers were injured and you signed Drogba on a short term deal? I don't get why you'd hate signing a player just because he was a legend at another club.

Lampard isn't the type of midfielder we need for anyway and he's what? 34? 35? He's too old.

This just sums up how idiotic it is, and by it I mean Kuled, it's not like Mal said we need him, he questioned your reasoning to which you just created another reason which is the one you should have gone with in the first place, twat.Kuled wrote:Lampard isn't the type of midfielder we need for anyway and he's what? 34? 35? Van Persie - 16 goals in 74 shots; 21%
Suárez - 15 goals in 123 shots; 12%
Ba: 13 goals in 89 shots; 14%
Michu: 13 goals in 61 shots; 21%
Defoe: 10 goals in 86 shots; 12%
Dzeko: 9 goals in 42 shots; 21%
Bale: 9 goals in 69 shots; 13%
Hernández: 8 goals in 30 shots; 27%
I wonder what Hernandez's percentage would be if he took shots from anywhere other than tap ins or one on ones, well actually I don't because I know it'd be poor but oh well.

Think he went to that Ballon d'Or thing, he got compassionate leave from United though.

Re: Manchester United FC Official Thread
According to the majority of papers today we've have supposedly snapped Zaha up for £12m.

Doron Salomon @DoronSalomon
Seven years ago today Evra was officially announced as a United player. At £5.5m he has to be up there as one of Fergie's best ever signings

Best ever signings ? Bit over the top there?
Evra over the last few years has been shit.

06/07-09/10 he was arguably the best left back out there. Not bad for £5.5m.
Getting him and Vidic for under £15m.

There was no talent in the left back position. Look now when a decent crop has sprouted, and you can see that Patrice Evra is a nothing compared to someone like David Alaba or Jordi Alba.

Ashley Cole wasn't bad.
And yeah, I'm sure the fact he's "nothing compared to" them isn't at all to do with his own decline since the World Cup.. And in fairness to him, he's improved since then- just obviously not to when he was probably the best.

Evra at his prime was nowhere near Al(a)ba's current level.

You misinterpreted my post, I think. David Alaba is only 20 and he is a more complete left back than Patrice Evra ever was. The difference is that left back was Evra's natural position, but Alaba is a naturalized left back since 1 full year ago. Pure talent can allow a player to play in multiple positions successfully.

Probably because through those years he wasn't doing all the much defending.
Having watched Evra over the last few years, He has been the worst left back in professional football defensively.
His positioning is worse then an sunday league footballer.

Whether there was no talent in the left back position or not, Evra was brilliant.Alaba v2 wrote:Danny wrote:06/07-09/10 he was arguably the best left back out there. Not bad for £5.5m.

Wrong, he was a centre forward in his younger days.
Nice
In the 2001–02 season, Evra switched to the number 17 shirt and was promoted to the first team on a permanent basis. In the team's first league match of the season against Laval, he started in the team's 2–1 win. Towards the end of the match, reserve left back Jean-Charles Cirilli, who was starting in place of the regular starter José Cobos, suffered an injury, which required the player to be substituted out. As a consequence, Evra dropped back into the role and played out the rest of the match in the position. Following the match, due to injuries to both Cobos and Cirilli, Evra was informed by Salvioni that he would take over the position. The young player disagreed with the manager's decision declaring that he was a forward, however, after Salvioni informed him "If you want to be in the team you play there", Evra agreed to take on the role.

And he did no defending when we had the best defence in the world and conceded about 22 league goals in an entire season? Right.

Re: Manchester United FC Official Thread
"I'm hoping Wayne will start training today actually, in which case he won't be far away," the boss told reporters on Friday. "I don't think it's a big issue but it will help him along. The injury is quite straightforward so if he starts today we should have him available for Wednesday's game.
"Nani's back in training and will be in the squad on Sunday. Phil Jones is back, although I think Wednesday is more likely for him. Anderson has been back training for 10 days so he'll be in the squad on Sunday.
"All in all, we're in a healthy situation. How long it will last I don't know, but it's good to have them back.
"Of course, it's Liverpool, a derby game. It never changes, it's always an immensely important game and also intense and emotional," added the United manager. "Everything you can think of in a derby game will probably be there on Sunday. At least we go into the game in reasonable form."
A lot of good reading there.
