Re: Chat Thread
The Copa Sudamericana final was cancelled. Sao Paulo fans started throwing objects towards the Tigre players and staff. They didn't come back out to finish the game when a Sao Paulo fan pointed a revolver at them. Tigre players are saying that they were more scared when the Brazilian police came, and reports are coming in that there was an incident involving the Brazilian police and Tigre players.
Sao Paulo was winning and they are Champions.

Fan/Brazilian security on player, and staff violence. The ref told the Tigre players multiple times(4-5) that if they didn't want to come back out he would suspend the game. They said they weren't coming back out, and the ref cancelled the game instead of suspending it,and awarded Sao Paulo wins.

I don't think it was a fan. All of these allegations are being made against the stadium's security staff.

Yeah, the fans were just throwing objects. The security staff were the ones that really hit the players.Rei Andros wrote:SophisticatedBeggar wrote: The Copa Sudamericana final was cancelled. BTW, I just finished watching Heleno. Had some free time, and remembered you mentioning him.

Watched it online. It was pretty good. They concentrated almost exclusively on him outside the pitch. It worked well in showing who he was, and what happened to him, but I wish they would have been more scenes of him playing. The few they had were great, but very brief.Rei Andros wrote:Where did you watch it and how did you like it?

Re: Chat Thread
I read a couple of reviews of the film. They mentioned that the director stayed away from shooting a lot of football scenes because it's notoriously hard to make them look realistic, and the cost involved with getting extras for a proper crowd and such was enormous. There wasn't much of their own money to throw around. Eike Batista's (monetary) support was a major part of the reason the film even went ahead.
I love the narrative around the end of the film. The pain Heleno must have felt watching Pele and co. lift the 1958 World Cup when he felt that he should have been the one to spearhead Brazil's run to their first cup is very poignant.

Liam Neeson is not a tough guy, he just plays them on big screens.

I haven't seen too many football movies, but the ones I have seen haven't had football scenes that looked as realistic as these. The slow motion scene when Heleno chests the ball down was pretty good, but the fast paced scene near the beginning of the film was exceptional even if it only a few seconds at most.Rei Andros wrote:I read a couple of reviews of the film. Pathetic that I'm making a procrastination mountain for just some 600/700 words. Screwed when it actually becomes difficult.

I got a return train to Bristol the other week, I spent £22 on train tickets. My mate laughed because he was driving.
He paid £35 for petrol and ran out literally just as he got back.

Skipping my first class and on constant lookout to see if my dad is coming home. He's a self employed refrigeration engineer so yeah..
It's ok when it gets to like 11 though, cause my next class after the morning class starts at 1:15, so I can just say I came home to watch the Chelsea match

Uni would be so easy if we all just spent 30-60 mins doing a bit a work each day, which is not a lot to ask, but it never happens.
I'll def be doing it next semester... (which is what I say every sem)...But seriously i will.

That's so much easier said that done.
I've got a 3000 word essay in tomorrow, only like 400 words in so far. Will try and get to at least 2000 today and then do the rest tomorrow, have until 5pm so shouldn't be too hard.

Things like that never work. People always say 'I'll have today off and do double tomorrow'. Never happens
Also, this shifty character on the bus keeps looking at me while I eat my pork and apple pies (best food ever)
