Re: Chat Thread
I always find the conclusion of an essay the hardest. I just don't know what to say without sounding incredibly repetitive and dull. You also don't want to go overboard with your last sentence and sound like some kind of facebook philosopher...dena wrote:First two sentences of an essay = top 5 hardest things in life

Conclusion is basically restating your introduction really. I often write it after I figure out what to start with.

The conclusion doesn't really matter to many of my teachers. They are under the impression that a well fleshed-out conclusion is designed to cover up holes throughout the essay.

My grandad is cleaning the gas freezer in the kitchen, and is poking the ice away with a knife, and banging the knife on the gas pipes.

I normally just look at previous essays to see how I started them.
Like in English or Classics essays, I normally do something like.. "In Virgil's Aenied, there are many different examples of..'
"In Hamlet and Beowulf, there are many scenes in which the writers attempt to create an atmosphere of disorder, such as Grendel’s first attack on Heorot in Beowulf and Hamlet’s soliloquy in Act I Scene 2."
