I assume that finishing first place means that we avoid the CL dropouts. Hopefully Rodgers uses his head and focuses on this tournament from now on.

Like last season, Porto and City finished 3rd in their CL groups and played each other in the last 32 of the EL, same with us against Ajax.

I'm guessing there's still country protection, so you can play one of 9 group runners up.

We would have been better off coming second, to be honest.

I'd prefer to get hard teams, that way, if we get far, we can say we beat the best teams in the competition to get there. An easy run is never that impressive. Almost like a free-ride to the final.
