Is West Brom for real?
Seriously. I keep waiting for these guys to hit the wall. They never do. 13 games is early but it's not that early. They're not Champions League material, are they?

Re: Is West Brom for real?
Basically like Levante of last season, they'll slowly fall down to 7th or 8th.

They are yes.
Forget Champions League, they're going for the title.

Re: Is West Brom for real?
I think realistically they'll fade after a bit and finish maybe 6-7th. It's really tough to be consistent enough for the CL places.

They've got a chance for Europe I think.

I hope they stay in fourth. Would be crazy if they managed to get into the champions league. Sadly can't see it happening though.

They'll probably dip around December - February, think they'll be a 7 or 8.

Re: Is West Brom for real?
I think they have an outside chance at the top 4. Right now, they're 5 points up on 5th. That's not a lot but look at who they've played already: draw at Tottenham, tough loss at City, win vs. Chelsea, and they've won some other decent away fixtures. It's not like they've been on easy street. They've played some of their toughest fixtures already and they're just 3 points behind United.

Seems so long ago when we outclassed West Brom live on Sky and Majewski scored this banger

Re: Is West Brom for real?
honestly I think they will stumble a bit sometime after Christmas but they should still be good enough for 6,7,or 8th place. Would be amazing if they made the CL though.

Re: Is West Brom for real?
The thing is, they have some pretty good players. The likes of Morrison, Brunt and Mulumbu would realistically be able to play for all but Man City. Not as first teamers every week, but as good squad players. Mulumbu would get into Man U's and Arsenal's team every week though.

From what I have heard, many West Brom fans would be happy to see Brunt leave for Manchester City.AndItsKoren! wrote:The thing is, they have some pretty good players. Surprised at how much of a hit Claudio Yacob has been. Most South American journalists didn't seem to be too convinced he would cut it.

I think they'll finish in the Europa League places, I hope they do alright despite Ed.

Re: Is West Brom for real?
No they aren't for real.
And no those players wouldn't make top clubs starting eleven.
Obvious drop to 8th +/- is obvious.

They have a nice balance to them, I like the midfield of Mulumbu and Yacob, good options up front . They actually have a very decent squad.

Re: Is West Brom for real?
I remember reading that Kenneth Dalglish was considering signing Mulumbu when Lucas was injured. If this is true, you have to say that he made the right decision by putting his faith in local lad Jay Spearing for 6 months instead.

How? Mulumbu is a great player, Man U definitely need someone like him and he is better than Coquelin. Maybe if Arsenal's team wasn't full of fairies they might actually win some trophies.
Brunt and Morrison would comfortably get on any bench except Man City's.

Yes, brunt would struggle to get into the Southampton teamGlen Damon wrote:From what I have heard, many West Brom fans would be happy to see Brunt leave for Manchester City.AndItsKoren! wrote:The thing is, they have some pretty good players. Re: Is West Brom for real?
Yacob is brilliant, just as good as mulumbu imo, slightly different playstyles though.Rei Andros wrote:Surprised at how much of a hit Claudio Yacob has been. Most South American journalists didn't seem to be too convinced he would cut it.
Dem tackles from Yacob
but yeah, to this whole thread, despite us being a "boing boing" team for all those years, every season west brom have improved and every relegation we were in a stronger position than the last one. This eventually led to us breaking the trend and staying up, now they are pushing on for a higher league finish. The reason for this is that the players are now very comfortable playing together, and there aren't really any stand out players in the squad, which means there is very tough competition for places in almost every position, and because of this, every player has been giving it their absolute all and playing better than ever. I can't name a single player who has under performed so far this season.
This is the strength in depth we have (apart from defense) :
GK - Foster, Myhill
RB - Jones, Reid
CB - Olsson, McAuley, Tamas, Dawson
LB - Ridgewell, Popov
CDM - Mulumbu, Yacob, Jara Reyes
Midfield (CM, RM or LM) - Morrison, Brunt, Gera, Dorrans, El Ghanassy, Odemwingie
Forwards - Lukaku, Long, Odemwingie, Fortune, Rosenberg
and if you look at that, there are no outstanding players there. So noone is a definate starter every game

Re: Is West Brom for real?
I think if they focus on the league and do not try too hard to make an FA Cup run they just might be for real. Although if they do get in a lot of fixture congestion they might fall apart.
