Marseille midfielder Joey Barton has ruled returning to parent club Queens Park Rangers, admitting he only joined them for the money.
Barton is on a season-long loan at French club Marseille but is yet to make his Ligue 1 bow due to the continuation of a ban he picked up for being sent off against Manchester City on the final day of the last English Premier League campaign.
Barton has claimed he is enjoying his time at Marseille and is set to see out the remainder of the campaign at Stade Velodrome, despite the dismissal of Mark Hughes as QPR manager.
The former England international may be enjoying his football these days, but he was keen to emphasise the move from Newcastle to QPR is not something he would like to repeat.
"When I went to QPR, it was a choice dictated by money. I didn't like what I had done, and I swore I'd never do that again," he told The Mirror.
"It was the first time in my life that I had taken a decision for money. I did it because my partner was due to give birth - but I did not feel good about it.
"The more money you have, the more problems you have. When I was in prison I got 8.60 euro a week and that (was) simpler - you'd use it to buy food and that was it."

what a fucked up guy, everytime it seems like he moves somewhere fresh away from controversy he stirs it up again. He needs to grow up. The saddest part is he actually has a fair bit of talent that for the most part has been wasted.

It's a shame he's not still in prison.

I hate that thing Jela does where he highlights the 'important' part of an article but makes it a smaller font. Please just make it bigger in future

He should give away all his money to charity then.
