Charlie Austin for England? Empty Charlie Austin for England?

Post by Forest Mon Nov 12, 2012 10:34 am

Seen a Talksport person tweet about it. Not sure if srs?

@BroadcastMoose: And if Zaha gets a call up, and I think that's quite right, what about a look at Europe's top scorer, Charlie Austin? Just a thought

He'd probably be another Nugent if he ever made the squad

It sounds as though Zaha was included as he has Dual Nationality and he's quite young. shifty

Definitely, only striker who's not been in the squad recently that deserves a call up.

I mean, players like Zamora, Agbonlahor and Campbell have had their chance and proven that their not good enough, so they're really running out of options as back up strikers and Austin is the only player who really strikes me as deserving of a chance.

Top scorer in Europe and hardly anyone to compete with to get a shout.

Lambert maybe, because of his goalscoring record this season. But then again, he is getting on a bit.

I don't particularly care what they're like. We're not running out of options up front when those 6 are regularly called up- when fit. lool

It would be a fantastic story if he ever plays for England after working his way up from Poole Town. I'd give him a shot in the team as he is an out and out goal scorer, something England lack on the international stage. Of course he may flop but I'd say he's worth a shot.

Right now I'd definitely have Austin over Bent and Carroll at least, especially in a pointless friendly.

I would certainly give him a chance in a friendly at least. He is on fire.

Hopefully he makes the step upto the Premiership in either January or the summer. If he succeeds in the Premiership then he will have to be called up.

I actually reckon he should stay in the championship or atleast at Burnley until the end of the season or the next season.
