It's almost Veteran's Day, isn't it? Much prefer Armistice Day. May actually call it that from now on.

Kinda. I think they care about their country to some extent. Although although I believe their prime motivation is dat dividends ya feel me?El_indian wrote:Ché Guayaba wrote:That's a gross generalization.
While I'm sure there are people like that, I believe they are in the minority. I believe the majority of them get into the military for the benefits(monetary and otherwise) and then the rest are misguided lambs who really believe in the things you mentioned.
would you agree with the first part (the part I have bolded)?
One of my closest friends in highschool joined the military straight out of high school. One of my close family friends and pretty much the guy I looked up to as a child ended up joining the air force too.
That last guy actually beat the shit out of some guy who was bullying me when I was like 6.

They don't care about the country or all that bullshit about freedom; they're just kids who think guns are cool.
Dose bomb squad guys are badass though. The Hurt Locker was a sweet movie.
You know man, I aint the smartest guy on this forumand I guess most people have fugured that out. But i was in the army for like 10 years and I served in iraq. I was a soldier and I never thought guns were cool, they were a tool of the trade like a journalist uses a word processor or a footballer uses a ball. most of my pals thought the same. we didnt go to war bcause we thought guns were cool, man we went because we were told to fucking go and that was our job like a football guy has to go to ukraine or some shithole when his employer says so. but a soccer player gos there to win a trophy and make mony for himslef or his club and make people happy bgut a guy goes to war not to make money, or at least not a lot just enough for food and rent. wen hes away his wife is lonely and his kid is too and they dont know if dad is coming home and he makes peanuts for putting his hairy ass indanger of having it shot or exploded allaover the fukcing place. a sodier doent deserve a million dollar pay packet a month no way, but he doesnt deserve shit fro a stupid ass kid who dont know his ass from his computer w2ho thinks war is COD. if there were none of your soldiers to protect or fight then bet your fucking ass there would be someone esles soldiers telling you what the fuck you should be doing. a little respect and understanding please.

This guy is 100% right. If they weren't any american soldiers in the middle east right now. We would be pushed around by the arabs right now. So lets salute them all for there much needed work.

Hey man I didn't mean to offend, and I definitely don't think war is like COD.
"They're just kids who think guns are cool" was probably a stupid thing to say, I didn't mean it like that, I just didn't know how to say what I was thinking.
I think the point I was trying to make is more about the patriotism/freedom stuff. I doubt soldiers think about these things when they join the army. It's more just like a job as you say.
I do respect them, no doubt...although I probably have no idea of the sort of things they go through.
