It gets written off unless someone else is liable for it, for example a co-signer, usually the debt would go to the estate but if they don't have any assets then the debt just goes unpaid.

It depends on the terms and conditions of the loan or whatever was not repaid, Cam. However in some cases the debt is wiped, or in some cases it goes to the next of kin.
I know for sure that if they have assets they are given to the insurance company.

I think Royal Mail do final pick ups for next day delivery at 5:30pm, so unless it's some sort of premium service with a courier, I doubt you'll get it.

If the person no longer exists, how could they pay the debt? Just like in business, if a company liquidates, the debt disappears. Depends what the company is though, like say a football club would still have to pay their debts to other football clubs. Like Rangers did, but they didn't have to pay HMRC etc because the company who owned them no longer exists.
In short, if a person ceases to be, their debt goes with it.
A company, well it's a little bit more complicated than that. Depends entirely on the kind of company etc.
