The major difference is that Whites don't have a history of being the victims of systematic racism.(At least in the UK or US) They do not understand the Black experience, in consequence some White folk don't see what's so hurtful about Racial slurs.

It wasn't a black comment though. I've actually experienced racism many times as a white person. I know what you mean though, speaking about the majority.

There was a very special episode of South Park about this. Randy says the n word. (the hurtful one, not the one said in rap songs) on television. Stan tells Token he understands how hurtful that word is. Token is angry because he knows Stan doesn't understand and never will. Stan realizes this and apologizes to Token and admits he doesn't get it.
