A lot of chicks go for the muscely look. I'd say he's better looking than the average chap, far from revolting.Ted wrote:Chris wrote:

There's a difference between a muscley look and looking like you'd burst if someone stuck a pin in you.Chris wrote:A lot of chicks go for the muscely look. I'd say he's better looking than the average chap, far from revolting.Ted wrote:

You don't take into consideration that attracting a mate is probably not the biggest reason they choose to do that to themselves.Ted wrote:Yea, but theres no way the majority of girls would be attracted to that, he looks like a fucking boss in some fucked up video game..

A lot of people tend to feel negative towards these type of physique's, it's very subjective. This is not a fitness model competition though. These guys are the best on the planet at an extreme sport, I do believe the physiques of the 80's bodybuilders were easier on the eye, but bodybuilding evolves very fast.

Re: Worlds Henchest Man
I remember someone a while back justifying the rampant use of steroids in the body building competition community as not "cheating" because body building was not a sport, but rather an art where a person's body is the canvas. He related it to ballet more than as an athletic event. Bodybuilders more as performers than actual athletes. It was actually a pretty good argument.
Anyways. Before the widely availability of steroids, bodybuilders looked like this.
The difference is massive compared to modern day bodybuilders.

That is Steve Reeves and he was on steroids. In fact the first 2 Mr. Olympia's both said he was the one that introduced them to steroids.Ché Guayaba wrote:I remember someone a while back justifying the rampant use of steroids in the body building competition community as not "cheating" because body building was not a sport, but rather an art where a person's body is the canvas. The main thing about this sport is take him back then, he'd look at the guys around him and think "i'm big enough to beat these guys". Then the next guy would come along abit bigger than him and think the same, then the next guy and so on until we get to today where the guys are 5'9, 250-260lbs with 5% bodyfat.

I don't believe secondary sources in this case. I don't believe he took steroids.

I suppose it could be viewed as a strange obsession based in vanity. I dig the commitment side that body builders have, but that look ain't for me. I'd rather be top class at something else than to dedicate myself to looking like that.
