Looking at buying a watch and looking at the make 'Swatch' they look pretty swanky, and I've got my eyes on this one, suggestions?

Theres tonnes of designs and that, this wasn't the one I saw but it's a similar colour scheme/design style.

    That's quite nice.

I have an aviator watch, this one to be exact:

Is there any practical reason to buy a watch in this day and age or are they just fashion accessories?

I like that Cam, but I wouldn't get that for me at my age for one, it could get nicked and two, doesn't suit what I wear, I like mine because it looks casual and blends in well. My Dad has an Armani and Nixon one, so fucking nice.

@Blade, I like them, look smart, good and you can easily tell the time, obviously.

I find it quite handy to have a wristwatch. Can't really go wrong with a $15 thing from Walmart. shifty

    I have an Armani AR2454

As my work watch right now, don't really have a casual watch but always liked the Timex X J Crew ones

Swatch look pretty lame to me, too bright and I don't really like the design.

I don't get this, if you can tell time then you're using your watch to 100% of it's capacity by glancing at it.

I think he means that your phone can second as a clock. If you own a phone you probably don't need a watch too.

I would say he is correct in his assumption that a watch is primarily a fashion accessory in this day and age. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

It's like writing an informal letter to a friend. You don't need to do it anymore, but it's nicer to receive a letter than electronic mail.

I guess it can be argued that a watch is still more convenient than a phone when it comes to telling time. It's easier to look at your wrist than it is to dig through you pockets, pull out all the coins, lint and day old hot cheetos looking for your phone.

That's exactly what I meant, Che. I don't think there's anything wrong with using them as fashion accessories but the nice ones do tend to be quite expensive.

I think it's definitely more of a fashion accessory now but it still holds it's purpose, there are very good watches for under 100, if you know where to look you find a cool band like the one in the second picture and pick up a face from a jewelry store for cheap. The only reason I have the Armani is because it was a gift.
