Team news - Arsenal: Chamberlain is back, Koscielny misses out and Diaby is still alive, somehow.

    Stoke: Who gives a fuck?

    I predict a draw.

    Probable lineups:

    Stoke City v Arsenal | 26.08.2012 | SS1 Stoke_v_Arsenal_Lineup_Aug_2012

    Key Facts
Arsenal are undefeated in their last 5 matches in the Premier League.

Stoke have drawn their last 3 home matches in the Premier League.

In their last six meetings against Stoke (home and away), Arsenal have won three, lost two and drawn one.

I'd really like to see Chamberlain start in midfield instead of Diaby. Out of the two games I've seen him play in midfield, he's really impressed me and I think he's earned the chance to become a starting player in that box-to-box midfield role. Certainly more worthy of that spot than Diaby who's done fucking nothing in the past year and a half to warrant a first team spot.

Diaby is just a black version of Mertesacker. Horrible on the ball. Off-balance, slow, and sloppy.

People need to stop with the Diaby hate. He's a good player, and he can't help being injured. He's fit now, and especially at Stoke where it'll be a physical game, he'll be useful to have in midfield and he was one of our best players during pre-season. Chamberlain would be a good replacement as the game goes on to add some pace into the game though, think that could end up happening. Also, Chamberlain isn't that fit, Wenger said he'll be in the squad but sounded like he wasn't starting.

When people say this kind of thing I'm always baffled. Why would we want a tall forward when playing against Stoke? We know that aerial dominance is the only thing they excel in so why would we even bother competing with them in that regard when we could be focusing on the million other things we're better than them at. I'd much rather a tricky striker started as he's more likely to cause those two lumbering oafs they call their centre backs problems.

Mertesacker isn't sloppy, or that horrible on the ball. He is slow, you can have that one though.

Diaby isn't slow though, and if anything he has decent balance, that's how he can at times drift past players.

I was thinking more to help defend as well as attack, we'll concede from a set piece if anything. Besides, i'd want Giroud to start no matter what, i'm not confident with Podolski right now and he isn't that tricky anyway.

Mertesacker? Mertesacker was our best defender against Sunderland, I said so straight after the game and i'll stick to it now. Diaby wasn't too effective, but he was playing as the DM although we didn't really have one to be fair, and he did nothing wrong.

K, well as I said in the post, I don't think Diaby did anything wrong, he did his job fine, we just weren't clinical and the movement wasn't there really bar Giroud.

I don't hate him, I actually think he's alright. But the fact of the matter is that he can't be out for a year and a bit through injury and then expect to come back and walk into the first team. It's unfair on Chamberlain. When he's done his bit coming off the bench and if Chamberlain isn't effective then he'll have deserved a starting opportunity.

I guess I would too but only because I think he's a good enough centre forward to cause them trouble, not because he's tall. I guess he probably would help defensively too.
