I am in the same way. I have not really paid as much attention to it as I probably should have. But still, if Obama supports it, it is probably unconstitutional.ahlycotc wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Agreed, Apple. Macs
Anyway, did you see the news on the Supreme Court? Terrible decision.
Wow, now. Let's not go that far.
Yeah I saw the decision. To be honest, I don't know much about Obama's healthcare, so I can't judge. I think the general idea of universal healthcare is a good one, but I'm not sure if Obama's has major flaws or not.

If the healthcare bill is unconstitutional (which is a very liberal interpretation of the constitution I might add), then how is the patriot act not unconstitutional? Sometimes I wonder why the supreme court was established in the first place if it just serves political agendas... Unbelievable.

The Patriot Act is unconstitutional, in my opinion. The precedent was set by John Adams in 1801, and FDR only made it worse with his ridiculous scheme. The Supreme Court should, in theory, be the most conservative branch of the government, yet it has simply become more and more liberal.Laurencio wrote:If the healthcare bill is unconstitutional (which is a very liberal interpretation of the constitution I might add), then how is the patriot act not unconstitutional? I'm with you 100% on that. You can't always rely on the Supreme CT to do its job.

Most of the Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republican Presidents if I recall correctly. The whole system is messed up, Democrats or Republicans.
Ron Paul was our last hope.

Probably, yes. But every president tries to bend the rules to render the Court useless as a "settler of disputes." If one party has the Presidency & both houses of Congress, then they are virtually guaranteed the Supreme Court in the long run. Is that right, though? The two bodies are elected, after all. I just think that there needs to be at least one body that balances it all.ahlycotc wrote:Glen Damon wrote:The Patriot Act is unconstitutional, in my opinion. Our whole system needs to be changed. As long as politicans on both sides can become corporate puppets, then expect more of the same. A lot of people might be clamoring for a "Third Party," but that's not going to do anything in the current system that we have. As soon as that party becomes viable, it would have to follow suit and sell its soul if it wants to have the slightest fighting chance.

Depends on the use of the word conservative. Quite often the Republican or the "conservative" agenda is the most "liberal" interpretation of them all.

In my opinion the SC judges shold be appointed by their peers by merit, not by the president on the basis of politival views, and most certainly not for life. Ofc that is never going to happen as that requires const changes which have to pass through the supreme court and the president, which pretty much guarantees any systemic change is doomed to failure.

I suppose that my ideal vision is that the President is slightly liberal and tries to push his luck a bit, and the Supreme Court is extremely conservative and reads everything with a narrow reading of the Constitution.Laurencio wrote:Glen Damon wrote:The Patriot Act is unconstitutional, in my opinion. If it ever stops working just uninstall then re-install it. It's sometimes really weird and says it can't find the video.
