Not the teams I expected to see in the final but the winner will be in the 2013 Confederations Cup.

Lost to New Caledonia 0-2. These games right now do NOT have anything to do with World Cup qualifying. The four remaining teams will play in a four team mini group from late 2012 through 2013 for World Cup qualifying reasons.

This matchup does make a certain 100% victory for the French in Oceania.

I think they should just integrate the Oceania cup into the Asian one. Right now it's like if there were a separate tournament for just the Caribbean.

fucking useless Herbert

Either team is going to get raped in the Confederations Cup. Even though this doesn't matter for WCQ, why didn't New Zealand take this at least half serious? They could have played in the Confederations Cup.

we took it seriously, kind of.
Herbert wants us to play like attractive football, but we aren't really good enough to do it. So he tries to play high intensity, fast paced football in 39 degree heat. The players are getting fucked after like 30 minutes. All of our goals came in the first like 15 minutes of the first half/second half
This tournament was the time to go back to our more traditional, boot it up the field to the strikers technique which conserves energy in the extremely harsh climates of the Solomon Islands.
I think it is time Herbert resigned as the All Whites coach, because he should really focus on either the Phoenix or the All Whites. He can't really do both, he could have like an advisory role for the All Whites. What fucks me off though is that we can't really get anybody else except Herbert.
To put into perspective, how shit our footballing system is over here. Ricki Herbert said we didn't like have enough talent in the country so the Phoenix have to look overseas for players. The best player to come out of New Zealand in the last few years has been Marco Rojas (talking about young players here out of NZ, so Reid and Smith and Wood don't really count)
Marco Rojas was found by the fans and given a scholarship thing to train with the Phoenix for like a year
The fucking fans found him, not a scout.

Tahiti have qualified for the 2013 Confederations Cup by winning the 2012 OFC Nations Cup. This is the first time ever that someone other than Australia or New Zealand have won this competition.

Once the games did no longer mean anything for World Cup qualifying things got strange quick. I guess it is better to lose this than giving 100% and risking injury. Getting a star player hurt during the Confederations Cup would really suck.

It is obvious that New Zealand does not really care for this tournament and I can somewhat understand why. This means so little and I still expect New Zealand to walk all over these guys in World Cup Qualifying.

The games weren't even shown on TV here, until people complained that they wanted to see the All Whites so they had to show the semi final

The All Whites finished third in the tournament after beating the Solomon Islands 4-3.

It's not that terrible, FIFA have put a lot of effort into oceania football and most of the teams have improved a lot. Nz just couldn't deal with the heat and the pitch. It's a good team, got good results against central American teams pretty recently but one million us dollars would have meant so much. Not as much as it would to the others though.
