Djokovic seems certain, he's like god in Serbia From what I've read Nadal is also likely to be flag bearer and someone from the Russian Tennis federation said Sharapova will carry Russia's but the head of their Olympic committee said they hadn't decided yet.
Unsure about Federer - he seems like the best choice but he did it in 2008 so who knows.
There are more than 5 counties in the Olympics y'know Sharapova's doesn't seem like a good idea tbh - she's never even competed in the Olympics before. Usually, especially in Russia, they save it for top Olympians and mostly men. Isinbayeva seems like the best choice but apparently she doesn't want to do it.

I'm sure Jamaica have a superb Tennis player to hold it ahead of Bolt.Pico wrote:kyro7 wrote:Looks like Tennis is dominating the Olympics.Pico wrote:I can't imagine there'll be too many other major athletes from Belarus so it's a definite possibility.

Hmm yeah you're probably right, not too sure what they base it on but Maria isn't the most deserving probably, either way, exciting times ahead.

I want my tickets now I want to see what seats I've got
I'll be pissed if I'm behind the umpire's chair.

What a wonderful problem to have, worrying about being seated behind the umpire at the olympic games.
I went from 4 followers to 31 in a couple of days on Tumblr, took advantage of Rafa and Maria winning RG.

She might not even make the draw for Auckland if she keeps losing to players ranked nearly 200 places below her

Re: The tennis thread.
Depends who's playing on the days I'm going and on the same courts. Won't know that until the day before

Murray just lost to Mahut, was a pretty good performance from Mahut and he destroyed Murray in the tiebreak.

Murray looked poor, he will be lucky to make the quarterfinals this year.

Murray is poor. Even some of the game's most respected people are calling him out on his recent antics.

Re: The tennis thread.
“Nadal hugged his father, his mother, and his sister. He hugged his manager and his uncle Miguel Angel and his girlfriend and his traveling buddies. Finally he came to his other uncle, Toni. Their relationship has been much scrutinized over the years, and Toni’s unforgiving ways with his nephew have been criticized. At this tournament, Nadal defended Toni, saying that he wouldn’t be where he is today without him. And it’s true, while Rafa is famous for his mental endurance, it was Toni’s stoical teachings that inspired that stamina. Asked a few days ago how often he fishes—it’s a favorite avocation of Rafa’s—Nadal said that he’d like to do it in the mornings, except that he has to practice. “My uncle,” he said with a smile, “wouldn’t be happy” if he skipped morning practice to go fishing.
Toni spun and danced and cried after the last point. When Rafa got to his uncle, he jumped into his arms. There were a lot of emotions, Nadal said, and love was one of them. And love, as they both knew, can be tough. Toni, whether it was having his nephew play with beat-up tennis balls as a kid, or helping him chase down Novak Djokovic this year, always made Rafa walk the hard road. Today was a day to celebrate how far it had taken them.”

Re: The tennis thread.
Rafael Nadal teamed with Marcel Granollers for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 victory over Mertinak & Troicki at the Gerry Weber Open in Germany!
Wish I could watch.

Uncle Toni.
That seems so much better than Queens. Nadal and Federer vs Murray and Tsonga...
Where's Novak now?

Re: The tennis thread.
Hmmm... I was looking at the ATP site the other day in college, said who was playing where, nothing on Djokovic though.
Maybe he's struggling to get over it.

Hate to break it to you but last year Djokovic decided not to play a pre-Wimbledon tournament...and ended up winning Wimbledon

This is no longer Nole 2.0 though.
Federer will win it.
Who am I kidding, Novak will.

Re: The tennis thread.
I said to people at last Wimbledon watch out for Raonic and he got injured.
I don't think he can win though.
Unless you mean Halle.

Oh, he won't win Wimbledon, I just think it would be nice if he did.
It's obviously going to be another snoozefest in the final.

Ew.
Even Nando can't save that photo. Not gonna lie, he is not aging well.

The constant wearing of hats doesn't help him, he could be far better if he made the effort.
