Re: Paul Lambert
Lots of sources on twitter are claiming it.
Henry Winter says he'll be appointed Villa manager imminently.

Here it is so you don't have to click on The Sun link
PAUL LAMBERT quit as Norwich boss last night.
The Scot resigned following a furious bust-up after the club refused to give Aston Villa permission to talk to him.
Lambert will walk into the vacant Villa job, with owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner identifying him as their No 1 choice yesterday.
The raging boss wanted out once it became clear the Canaries were digging their heels in, adamant they would not even let him hear what Villa had to offer.
It resulted in a bitter end to Lambo’s three-year love affair with the Carrow Road club, who he took from League One obscurity to 12th place in the Premier League following successive promotions.
It is the second time in 18 months that Norwich, backed by TV cook Delia Smith, have refused to give their manager permission to speak to a rival club.
In January 2011, they turned down Burnley’s request to approach Lambert following the dismissal of Brian Laws.
A Canaries statement at the time said: “The club will fight tooth and nail to retain the services of Paul Lambert and his team during this critical period of the season and whilst they remain employed under a long-term contract.”
They tried the same tactic yesterday but it blew up in their face — days after Lambert, 42, declared he was going nowhere.
That clears the way for him to succeed Alex McLeish, who Lambo played under at Motherwell.
SunSport can reveal Villa identified the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder as the steely character required to shake up the Midlanders before Roberto Martinez declared he was staying at Wigan.
Lerner feels Lambert is the young, aggressive and ambitious boss Villa need after two miserable years.
Norwich now face a summer sweat to bring in a new manager.
Former Canaries skipper Malky Mackay will be a contender.
He took Cardiff to the Carling Cup final, where they lost to Liverpool on penalties, as well as the Championship play-offs last season.
Chris Hughton is also in the frame.
West Brom are not keen to cough up around £2.5million for the Birmingham man’s services.
But that figure would not worry Norwich who expect to receive some compensation from Villa when Lambert is officially installed as boss.

Re: Paul Lambert
Norwich club statement.
The Club regrets to confirm that Paul Lambert has offered his resignation from his position as Norwich City Manager.
We have fought hard to keep Paul at Norwich City and have not accepted his resignation whilst discussions with another club are taking place.
However, whatever happens, we want to place on record our sincere gratitude for everything Paul has done for the Club over the last three fantastic seasons.
When Paul joined us in August 2009 we were in 66th position in the English football pyramid and the Club was on the brink of financial meltdown.

So, imo, Norwich are better at the moment. Why would Lambert want to make a step down? Strange.

Would an Everton player going to Liverpool be a step down?

Villa are light years ahead in terms of infrastructure and fanbase, but that's about it.

I wasn't being entirely serious, but what you've said is arguably true at the moment.

Re: Paul Lambert
Norwich to Villa is in no way a step down. On CURRENT FORM, possibly, but even so it's still only a sidewards step, as we should be a mid table team minimum, as Norwich were. We should be a lot higher up the table than a team like Norwich though.

Well by definition it is true I suppose (as it would be one step down the league table).

Yeah but they have a bigger ground and a lion on their badge. A lion would definitely beat a tree in a fight.

I don't think it would you know. It would be similar to that Simpsons episode where Homer becomes a boxer, and he just stands there letting his opponent hit him over and over again, until he is too tired to hit him any more. That's when Homer goes for the killer blow. So what i'm trying to say is, the lion would attack the magnificent tree of Nottingham Forest over and over again, before becoming too tired. The tree then falls on the lion and kills it. But in doing so, the mighty tree of Nottingham Forest has fallen. But a decade later, a rich Kuwaiti guy comes along and restores this tree to its former self.

May need to enlist the help of a sea-faring club badge, maybe Sheffield United or Bristol Rovers could help.
