    The American businessman turns 85 on Friday, but a malicious rumour, started on Twitter, led to a story being widely reported that he passed away after "a massive stroke".
    Glazer bought out Man United shareholders gradually between 2003 and 2005 in a deal that valued the club at around $1.47 billion (£900 million), but he has not been a particularly popular figure among supporters ever since, having lodged a huge amount of debt next to the club.

    The day-to-day running at Old Trafford has been overseen by his sons - Joel, Avi and Bryan - since he suffered a stroke in April 2006.
    Manchester-based Twitter user, Danny McMullan, who calls himself Danny McMoomins, started the rumours of his death, and wrote: "CNN Reports from Tampa - Malcolm Glazer dies in hospital at 2am local time following 3rd massive stroke. #mufc #glazer #RIPMalcolmGlazer"

    CNN were also quick to distance themselves from the claims, with digital producer John Sinnott saying: ‘At this time no one in CNN newsgathering or the shows have reported this or even heard rumblings on it.’

    Do not want to see such a credible and esteemed news corporation such as CNN be dragged through the mud.

    CNN didn't report it. The bellend who made it up said they did.

    The likes of the Mirror were the one's who reported it because they saw it doing the rounds on twitter.
