I thought it was pretty cool.I see hypocrisy is the order of the day here, people slating others for judging players based on one or two games. Well, Bale is not world class based on two games against Inter, if anything his close to useless performances against Everton and Man Utd prove he still has a long way to go. He needs space to operate in, LOTS of space and he's not going to get that often in the Premier League anymore.
Anyways back to Maicon, whenever he has to defend a specific player, he fails HORRIBLY. Whenever he comes up against a true winger he gets exposed and shown as the average defender he is. Take the Brazil-Holland game, where his attacking play was nearly non-existant and the winning goal came from cross from his side of the pitch. In the Serie A, almost no one plays with specific wingers so he doesn't have to man mark and has freedom to break forward whenever he wants, especially with Cambiasso covering his *. Enter Bale, who exploited him in exactly the same way for FIVE GOALS in two games! If you have any kind of defending intelligence you'd know after one or two times perhaps you need to be more conservative in your attacking approach but no, he just kept storming forward doing little of note except giving Bale tons of space and allowing him to play to his strengths.
Sagna on the other hand is a very boring player, he's not as shiny and exciting as Maicon and therefore doesn't get the same amount of credit. The truth is Maicon poops all over him when it comes to attacking (especially end product) but Sagna is an extremely solid and dependable player who usually doesn't get beaten by his marker, knows how to position himself and is rightly considered Arsenal's best defender, maybe after Vermaelen but personally I'm not sure. If you're looking for a good, reliable defensive player which Sagna clearly is I'd pick him over the likes of Alves, Maicon and Ramos every day of the week. If you're looking for a more complete package and someone who can also contribute in attack you'd be better off with someone else.

It's the EA forums, if Bale has a poor next 3 games he'll be shit
Maicon plays in Italy so no one gives a toss about him

Agree with that.
McShane is a better defender than Sagna though so I guess Hull own the best right full back in the world.

O'Shea this season is the most I've seen a footballer out of his depth.

He starts off well, starts descending in the 2nd paragraph, and the 3rd is complete rubbish.

TBH I thought this would be a song to the tune of "Ten Men Went To Mow."

Form is temporary, Class is permanent.SBSP_FIFA wrote:Bale > Maicon.chiboygeorge wrote:Maicon > everyone.
Maicon was in bad form and Bale is in good form. Maicon will always be class, but Bale is not class.

Maicon just doesn't have the pace to play in the PL. I mean what if he had players like Walcott, Lennon etc running at him. It just shows the difference of standard in the PL.

I used to think Maicon was the best right back in the world at one point.
I also used to think Glen Johnson was one of the worst right backs at defending at one point aswell.

Maicon in form? Bale hasn't been good 'til recently and he's not good enough to be labelled class yet...he's just in good form.Luxz0rz wrote:chiboygeorge wrote:Maicon was in bad form and Bale is in good form. Maicon will always be class, but Bale is not class.

You weren't taken by such cutting edge rhetoric as "poops all over"? Why not? That's creative stuff.

If you insist... Seriously, what's your problem? Bale has just beenn in good form a good run of form doesn't automatically make you world class...also where did I say all brazilians > eeryonne?Deacs wrote:Yes, every Brazilian player>every other player in the world.chiboygeorge wrote:Form is temporary, Class is permanent.SBSP_FIFA wrote:Bale > Maicon.chiboygeorge wrote:Maicon > everyone.

On current form Bale is world class.

Yeah because Darren Bent has scored a hattrick vs the European champions and ripped one of the worlds best RB's to pieces.
