I'm not even going to say who is right or wrong, but you are unnecessarily confrontational BladeGunner. Usually when I see you in a thread there's an argument.

You've been bitching about it ever since the match ended. That constitutes a while in my book, at least from a proportional sense.
I don't support Barcelona and this particular occasion isn't embarrassing.
There may have been a foul on Ibrahimovic and maybe Robinho didn't intentionally handle the ball, but Barcelona had a couple of decisions go against them in the first leg and I didn't hear you talking back then. Instead of trying to pin your hopes on a couple of hypothetical situations, why don't you criticise Milan for creating six chances over the two legs in comparison to Barcelona's 32? Or did the referee help them with those as well?
it's easy to criticize any team to creating less chances than barcelona. its a given. barcelona is the arguably best attacking/creative team in the world. win or lose they'll always be the team that creates more chances. it's a non-factor in this scenario
baseless accusations? there really is now point to this anymore. if you can't accept what i have to say, then i have to say likewise. lets just agree to disagree before we get carried away. neither of us are going to change either other's minds. if you want to keep 'discussing' then fine PM me, lets just keep it off the forum. good luck to barcelona
Okay.

Blade is right though. Schnix has been bitching about the referee in the second leg, but fails to mention how Barca were robbed in the first leg (which would have made the second leg much easier for Barca). If you are going to complain, be consistent.

i didn't watch the first leg, nor did i watch highlights, or read anything about it. if barcelona got robbed, then i'm truly sorry for what happened to them in the first leg
but just because i didn't watch the first leg, doesnt mean i have to look the other way for the 2nd leg
again, i agree to stop "discussing" the match because i don't want to start a whole flame war. my stance on this remains the same. but if i'm offending anybody, direct it to my PM

Nobody is offended.
The point is that it just comes off as sour grapes, poor sportsmanship and general crybabyness when guys like Ibra and Mourinho whine about what they see as preferential treatment for Barca. They're basically buying in to a conspiracy theory that there's some continental fix in favor of Barca. It's ridiculous. All teams suffer from bad calls from time to time. All teams benefit from good calls from time to time. There's no conspiracy being implemented by the powers that be to rig things in favor of Barca or Man Utd or anybody. You win some, you lose some. Over the course of a season, everything pretty much evens out.

I don't think there has to be a "continental fix" for officials to be in favour of Barca.
It's just bigger/better team syndrome for the officials...especially with Barca at home.

referees have a tough job. they can't necessarily see everything. there's a lot of pressure on them before matches involving 2 big teams like yesterday. and given the amount of barcelona's controversies in the past (i'm at least allowed to say that right?..... ), that's even more pressure on referees to do their job better. they do the best they can which is the most we can ask for as audiences
funny and insightful video, love busacca

I ask for officials to not influence games, and no less.
I don't necessarily blame officials, it's not their fault they are not good enough. Up to FIFA/UEFA etc to put it right.

It might seem like Barca gets more calls and they probably do at home. Most teams do at home. But might it also be because Barca has the ball 60 to 70% of the time. They spend more time on the attack and more time in the opponent's area. So just by sheer odds they're going to get more fouls, free kicks and penalties

I was going to bring this up. Barcelona are far more likely to get penalties simply because they have the ball in the other team's penalty area so much longer.menalawyerguy wrote:Lux wrote:I don't think there has to be a "continental fix" for officials to be in favour of Barca.

what's funny about Messi slotting a routine penalty kick?

Look at Busquets, I imagine he doesn't like penalties and waited for the crowd's reaction. His reaction to that is what we're laughing atmenalawyerguy wrote:what's funny about Messi slotting a routine penalty kick?

Reminds me of Buffon at the 2010 WC (Or was it 2006? ) where Italy got a penalty he turned around in his goal grabbing the net and watching the fans, when he saw them celebrating he went mental .

I'm not thinking of it so naively as that.
It's about whether the decisions are correct or not, not necessarily how many.
In that game...there were a lot of fouls, especially once Milan got impatient....but when Barcelona lose the ball they pretty much go down every time. If they keep going down...then they will get more decisions by sheer odds
I think it is a bit of both. They are all pretty quick and have good ball control, so when they are ahead and the opposition are lunging in they're good enough to pass it around or get a free kick if they don't. But....on a fair enough amount of occasions, they lose the ball and don't deserve the free kick. You also have the massive home crowd....and the fact that they are Barcelona.
I would like the referee who did this Chelsea game to manage a Barcelona match. Take no bullshit and card those who get in his face. I saw him earlier in the competition and I thought he was good then too.

This was the ref who reffed the second Arsenal - Milan leg. He was awful, no consistency at all.

So you're saying that every team does it as much as Barcelona....rolling around, crying with hands on faces and all?
I would agree that I have seen equally bad players, but I've not seen a whole collection of players in one team who do it as much.

Not every team. But lots of teams in proportion to the number of times the opportunity presents itself are right on par with Barca. Again, Barca gets more opportunities to simulate than others because they have the ball more than others and they get more attempted tackles than others. But with pretty much every non-English team (and even many English teams), if somebody tries to tackle them, they pretty much always go down in feigned agony. Nothing new here.
