He was right there when the ball came through. He ran right by it and came perhaps within a foot of it. Just because he didn't physically play it doesn't mean he wasn't "involved."

It doesn't matter how close he was from it. He was running away from it and had no intention of playing the ball because he knew it was in an offside position.

He's interfering with the play, imo. I've seen guys way further away from the ball trying to evade the play get called because his movement has the effect of distracting the defense. Oh well....
