No. They have around 40% of the seats in the Parliament. Anyways, the SCAF (military) is still ruling the country. They won't give up powers until Presidential elections are over. They are taking place in May.
Ah I see, seems clear that unless foreign policy intervenes (not suprising, I doubt the likes of the UK and USA would want a party with ideology consisting of Islamism and anti-Zionism to rule the biggest Arab/Muslim state in the world) the Muslim Brotherhood should sweep all before them, which most would have been suprised at given the commonly held idea that most young egyptians want a more modern thinking country.
The West can fuck off. I can understand why the US would want to have as much control on Egypt as possible. But let Egyptians choose their own government and deal with their own problems.Meddling with our affairs only causes more hate towards them.
The Muslim Brotherhood is Egypt's most organized party, but they aren't that popular as people out of Egypt seem to think. They only got 47% of the votes. If other parties had time to organize themselves and reach out to people, they probably wouldn't have gotten as many votes. What really surprised people is the success of the Salafis' Nour Party. They are considered an ultraconservative Islamic party while the Muslim Brotherhood is moderate. They came out of nowhere and got like 24% of the votes. The rest of the votes went to non-Islamic parties.
I think the MB is going to do alright though. They already showed people that they won't form an alliance with the Nour Party and they are pretty moderate. At the moment, they are the only party that can lead the country on the right path because even if other parties have better ideas, they don't have half the resources and power of the MB that will get things rolling. I don't think foreigners have anything to fear. I can see why some governments (especially Israel's) will be afraid though. They won't be able to control Egypt and Israel won't be able to get away with things like in the past.
