    Villa takeover? Empty Villa takeover?

Post by Guest Tue Feb 14, 2012 1:40 am

A comment I saw on facebook from some guy who wrote on a post from the villa about dunes injury, he says:

Aston Villa are soon to be own by Qatari's (QIA) Qatar Investment Authority
There are a few websites that are showing this rumour as it is about to surface. Those who don't believe me, search on google - Qatar takeover of Aston Villa.

    Key points mentioned:
Story should start breaking by late feb - march 2012
Randy Lerner looking for around 130 - 150 mil for the club
The takeover will make Man City look like Derby, in other words Aston Villa could possibly become one of the richest clubs in the world.

    I sincerely doubt that.

Seems plausible, although it will be unlikely that they will go spending crazy right away given the FIFA fair play rules . Still, this can be a very interesting development for the PL, but is not, I think, good for the football economy in general. The more teams that are able to utilise stupendous funds to buy players, the higher the price of players will potentially rise.

Why would they care about the Fairplay rules? Those only apply for teams in European competitions.
