No i dont think they are. But they deserve lots of credit for what they have achieved this season and even if they finish 7th that would be a top class season for Newcastle and im not ruling them out of finishing higher. They are right in the mix for the top 4 or 5 and deserve to be.

They're not too far off of both of them. I think that they lack depth when compared to Liverpool and Arsenal, but if they can keep their first team fit then there's no reason why they can't fight for a top 6 spot to the wire.

Ben Arfa wasn't fit at the start of the season.

Newcastle have coped way better despite having far bigger losses.

Gerrard misses start of season, so did Ben Arfa

Newcastle still had to cope Collocini, Cabaye being absent. Along with Barton being sold behind the managers back and their new striker missing the first month.

Player by player i don't believe Newcastle are better, but as a team currently yes.
