The biggest derby of the weekend.. for these two teams who are only separated by a few miles.
Rochdale last 5 results.
Wycombe 3-0 Rochdale
Tranmere 0-0 Rochdale
Rochdale 1-5 Stevenage
Hartlepool 2-0 Rochdale
Rochdale1-1 Preston
Bury last 5 results.
Scunthorpe 1-3 Bury
Tranmere 2-0 Bury
Bury 2-1 Walsall
Bury 0-3 Sheffield United
Bury 3-2 Yeovil Town
Rochdale have not won in their last nine games and if Chesterfield who play Bournemouth on a Friday point manage to gain a point this could plumet them to bottom of the table by the time Rochdale and Bury play each other.
Bury on the otherhand have improved vastly as the season has gone by. Earlier on in the season their was bad patch of 5 succesive losses and many people were wondering whether Barker was up the job but he has pulled them up the table and has improved on a squad that had some tough sales in the last few days of the August transfer window when top goal scorer Ryan Lowe left for Sheffield Wednesday and Damien Mozika left for Scunthorpe.
The last game the two teams played each other Rochdale won 4-2 and in all absolutely outplayed Bury and they deserved to win and on the form book Bury should avenge this defeat this weekend but nothing ever goes on paper in a derby and Rochdale will be bolstered by their new manager John Coleman who was unveiled this week.
Key Players
Jean Louis Akpa Akpro (Rochdale)
Last time the two teams faced each other this man ran the show and the Bury defence couldn't handle him so i am hoping we will have him fully marked as if we don't he will be a real danger.
Peter Sweeney (Bury)
The midfield maestro has been one of our stand out performers this season and if he can pick the right passes out with Schumacher in the central midfield then Rochdale will be on the backfoot.
In all it should be a magnificent derby and i for one can't wait!
