So I could probably get some medical attention, and once I'm better, I can go off to all the newspapers and sell my story. That way, I will still make some money, who knows, I might even end up on something shit like Celebrity Big Brother. That would bring in some more cash. So either way, I still get some money.

Well I'm only going to get this life once and I'd rather live normally than risk dying for being rich.

Money doesn't buy happiness anyway. Material things only make you feel good for a short amount of time, when you get something it releases a bit of dopamine, making you feel good. However the dopamine wears off, that's why we always want more. If you were rich it would just take even more to make you feel that good. That's why when a footballer gets a new ferrari he doesn't have an orgasm, he's already used to that sort of thing. If a normal person got a ferrari there's a better chance they'd spunk in their pants. Proper happiness is all about mindset imo, if you think you're happy then very often you will be.
