How does that even matter? They still had 15 or so chances on goal, they had 70% posession, 11 corners, and a handful of offsides. You can't blame three at the back for not scoring with those statistics really.

3 centerbacks is not necessarily a defensive formation. Mexico and Chivas both used 3 centerbacks for a big chunk of their history and neither were very defensive.

Of course neither used fullbacks either, and I didn't actually watch the Liverpool match so it could of been like 3 centerbacks, 2 defensive midfielders and 2 fullbacks or something.

Then blame the players. They are the ones who were useless out there. The tactics and formation worked as it was supposed to, ensured you kept posession and gave you chances to score. Not his fault your players can't score (Well it sort of is).

What you said is actually true. Henderson and Adam together don't match Meireles, let alone replace Lucas. Downing is not a fraction of the player Maxi is. Enrique and Coates were the only two astute signings.
