A 55 player shortlist in which they have designated numbers for each position 5 goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders & forwards. Players like Mata, Gotze, Di Maria, Robben, Ribery have all missed out and they are all streets ahead of Bale Laughing

Didn't even notice Robben and Ribery weren't in there, but TBH the shortlist doesn't really matter you can look at each player and see that most of them have no chance of making the team.

The only argument I have from them is Gotze. Mata has been poor at Chelsea. Never rated Ribery and Robben injured alot.

Bale got player of the year in England last year and has been excellent this season in a team thats third in the premiership. Its not ridiculous that he should be there. Plus the idea that Mata is "streets ahead" of Bale is just nonsense, none of that list are streets ahead of him.

If Bale put in the same performances for Real everyone would agree that he should be there. Its very easy to just band about names like Gotze when in reality he hasn't done anything Bale hasn't. Where is Goetze being brilliant in the champions league? Ribery is ridiculously overrated as well.

Mata was exceptional last season for Valencia, he tore up the U21's with Thiago and he has been anything but poor at Chelsea hes been their best player Laughing
Ribery is great when he plays Bale is a better athlete for sure but not a better footballer.
Robben wasn't injured that much during 2011 another better footballer than Bale, arguably a better athlete apart from strength..

So me having an opinion based on watching these players playing and knowing their strengths and weaknesses is nonsense whereas your hypothetical bullshit isn't?

Ok. Streets ahead was an exaggeration but I have no doubt they have all been better than Bale in 2011.

Bale isn't just a good athlete. He can cross, shoot, take set pieces.

What would Ronaldo be like if he wasn't a good athlete? He'd only be better than Bale in the sense he can shoot from distance with more accuracy.

Ronaldo is a lot more skillful then Bale and doesn't need to rely on his athleticism which is the difference.

Ronaldo is better than the majority of players in the world with the ball at his feet, that would be the difference.

I never once said Robben or Ribery were not good athletes.. I just said Bale is a better one he is a more powerful player.

So Ronaldos only good technical attribute better than Bales is long range shooting? I agree about crossing everything else.. Laughing. If that was the case then Bale is seriously under performing he should be getting 25+ goals a season if he is as good as you are making out.

Not true. Ronaldo relies on athletic ability just as much. He's not even that great of a dribbler. One v one he is good, but for him to pass more than 1 he has to hit and run.

If Bale put in the same performances for Real everyone would agree that he should be there

Di Maria has been doing exactly that and I don't see many giving him credit.

No he doesn't. It's a part of his game yes, and his close control isn't as good as some players, but he can skill his way through a player or two before using pace to drive away from them. He doesn't just kick and run.
