Keep in mind these guys aren't so primitive.Zzonked wrote:Always think this sort of thing is fascinating, because to them we must just be like aliens who just landed and started showing off our shit. I like when the one guy takes a bite of rice and his face just says "What is this sorcery!"
Although they're obviously quite primitive, I'd be interested to see what kind of society they have in place. I wonder what sort of gender roles they have, justice systems, religions, medicine and also whether they think about the world outside where they are and what they think about it.
Why do people sometimes touch their head when in disbelief at something? (ie OMG!!)Jay wrote:What does it mean when they touch the back of their head after eating some of the food?

They are likely New Guinean highlanders, which means they have established agricultural system, mystic beliefs, medicinal practices and a VERY HIGH density population. (For a pre-industrial society anyway)
Probably no judicial system because they live in tribes where everyone is related to everyone else. Any disagreements would be handled locally by other family members. Gender roles are obvious, they live in village and everyone has a role in it. Men's tasks outside of the village roles are occasional hunting trips.
That is assuming these are New Guinean highlanders. If not, they are either lowlanders which are just as if not even more developed (as they are a strange polynesian-new guinean hybrid and historically had trade with parts of indonesia and polynesia) or somewhere in between the lowland coastal regions and the highland mountain area, in an area where no New Guinean crop can flourish and with very low population density. The guys in the middle are the most primitive.
