Seven football fans were killed in a stadium stampede in Kenya during the local derby between Gor Mahia and FC Leopards.
The Kenya Red Cross and local police confirmed that the deaths took place just outside Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi as hundreds were trampled on Saturday evening.
"Our emergency rescue teams are on the ground and they have been able to confirm the deaths of six people whose bodies have been found outside the stadium. They are five male and a female," said Red Cross spokesman Titus Mung'ou.
"We are also confirming that another person has succumbed to injuries at the Kenyatta National Hospital."
The match ended in a 1-0 for Gor Mahia.
Five years ago, one person was killed and several were injured in a similar tragedy at the Nyayo Stadium, where Kenya played against Morocco in a World Cup qualifier.
