Celtic fined by UEFA after fans partook in ILLICIT CHANTS!!!

Celtic have been hit with a fine of €15,000 after their fans were reported for “illicit chanting” during the Europa League match against Rennes last month.

Uefa’s control and disciplinary panel imposed the fine after the match delegate was informed of pro-IRA chanting by the Strathclyde police match commander on November 3rd.

The fine was announced by the European governing body this afternoon after a decision was taken on Friday.

Celtic expressed their surprise at the charge when it was announced last month and said they would cooperate fully with any investigation.

No, just that people seem to have the opinion that it is only Rangers fans, yet we have UEFA match delegates at every match and we haven't been reported since we had a suspended sentence, just proving that when we are told to stop we do.

Btw, the link says it's 'sectarian' and it's for the Paddy McCourt chant, ira chants etc. If this is wrong then again, sorry. Just going by what that source said. If you believe this thread to be baiting (which I can assure you it's not) then you may close it.

Celtic have never been fined for sectarian singing. That's just your lot so don't bring us into it.

They're calling it illicit chanting.

And where have you heard what chant it's for? Celtic haven't even heard what song it's for yet.

Celtic will appeal. It's not sectarian, racist .. so the best they can come up with is offensive. Offensive to who? Singing songs about Irelands fight for independance may offend bigots in Scotland but that's about it.

Also if they want to ban these songs they better ban songs like Flower of Scotland and Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Let's not forget this was a complaint by a policeman at the Celtic match. Should he have not just arrested the culprit if he had been engaging in anything illegal?
